Let’s Chat About Nielsen Ratings prt 2.

Now that we’ve talked about what Nielsen Ratings are, and what they’ve been in the past years, let’s talk about the present. The number one show last week had approximately 24 million viewers, and the number ten slot had 18 million viewers. Not too shabby. As you will see, the American public right now seems to have a high interest in dancing, Christmas-themed programs, crime shows, and naturally, a certain brilliant and miserable Doctor.

According to nielsenmedia.com, the top broadcasted TV programs from the week of November 26th, 2007 were:

  1. Dancing with the Stars Result Show
  2. Dancing with the Stars
  3. Desperate Housewives
  4. NCIS
  5. Shrek the Halls
  6. CSI: Miami
  7. House
  8. Criminal Minds
  9. Two and a Half Men
  10. CSI: NY
  11. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

I do want to mention that Nielson Ratings reflect only how many people watched something, and it has nothing to do with how many people liked what they were watching. Why do I say this? Well, because it’s something to consider. Have you ever had the TV on in the background, left it on and left the room? Kept it on for a younger sibling even after they fell asleep? Watched something just because you were bored, or wanted to mock it? Well, there you go.
