My Ten Favorite Channels
One of the nice things about having satellite (or cable if that is what you have) is the stunning amount of variety in television you have at your fingertips. It seems to me that no matter what the time of day or night you can always find something worth watching, which has led me to create a list of my Ten favorite channels. Before I begin let me give a couple of disclaimers. First: I watch TV that I like to watch, Second: I like the TV that I watch, and third: well I hope you check out these channels.
#10: The Science Fiction Channel

While I don’t really dig its day to day programming all that much, I do really like the special events and mini series it runs. They did an awesome job of redoing the Earthsea books, rocked my socks with their dunes, and have done a remarkable job with Tin Man. If you haven’t had a chance to cruise over to this channel set your warp drive and go over and check it out.
#9: PBS Sprout

This is actually more for my kids, but I actually kind of dig it. It’s a great channel for younger age programming and because it is an extension of PBS you know its quality programming. Also the shows are not just for kids and you may just become a huge Sagwa fan!
#8: Chiller

this is actually a newer offering on cable and satellite that gives an offering of older and newer horror movies and television shows. Great for fans of shows such as tales from the dark side, tales from the crypt, Outer Limits etc. If you are looking for a place that can give a fix to your horror jones Chiller is worth the look see for sure.
#7: CNN

So okay you caught me, I am a bit of a news junkie, however CNN delivers news from all over the globe and does so in an intelligent and thought provoking fashion. While I have heard some criticism that they tend to lean a bit to the left, I really don’t care I like the way they do news.
#6: Boomerang

Ever wonder what happened to all those great cartoons you watched as a kid? Well swing on over to Boomerang and you can catch most of them at some time. One of the great things about this channel is that they switch up the programming fairly often so there is always something you haven’t seen for a while on.
#5: TV Land

Gunsmoke, Happy Days, The Andy Griffith Show, they are all great memories and now when I am feeling like a bit of nostalgia I flip over to TV Land and seem to always like whats on. A great place to remind yourself that TV was great when it was simple.
#4: National Geographic Channel

Ever wondered what national geographic would be like if it was turned into a tv show? Well while I can’t say for certain, The NG channel is some great tv watching. Though they do tend to show a lot of specials on the prison system.
#3: Spike TV

I don’t know if its because I am a guy or what, but this channel has some great programming. Early in the day I can watch reruns of Star Trek spin offs and in the evening I get what my wife likes to call Guy TV. This channel hosts the UFC, a couple different wrestling shows, a couple action adventure shows and just plain fun shows. If you are a guy this is a channel for you. I don’t know if there is much for women, but my wife watches some of it with me.
#2: The History Channel

I am a history buff. I love to learn and see what life was like back then. While they do tend to be a bit heavy on the ole WWII programming sometimes, for the most part they are pretty well balanced and give a broad perspective.
#1: NFL Network

Part of me wishes they had never started this channel as I can’t quit watching it! This channel has taken my football addiction to a whole new level. Now I can keep track of everything that is going on around the league. Not only that even during the off season there are great things to watch for the football fan.
So there you have it, my top ten favorite Channels. Let me know what you think, or better yet list your own!
