Kate Voegele : the Singer/Songwriter Soon to be on One Tree Hill)

One Tree Hill’s fifth season premieres January 8th. This season picks up several years after high school graduation. It’ll be interesting to see how that formula works for a show like this. Many shows do not stand the test of time after their characters graduate and move on to college or various other ventures. I don’t have the answers to how well it’ll work – you’ll just have to tune in to the CW at 8 p.m. EST to find out and see.

But I do have some news regarding season five. In this season, you’ll get to see singer/songwriter Kate Voegele acting. Not only that, you’ll get to hear her perform songs such as “Only Fooling Myself.” (For more detailed information on what to expect, read the spoilers below.) Expect this single to become very popular, very fast. You can hear this song and other’s, at her Myspace.

One Tree Hill is a show that is good about finding the hippest new music around, and they’ve done it again with Voegele.

You may now be wondering, how exactly did Kate start breaking into this industry?

A sixteen year old Kate recorded rough demos alongside her father, and that opened the doors for her to open for the Counting Crows, and John Mayer. Kate’s musical talent then gave her the opportunity to play second-stage for Patty Griffin, and Aimee Mann. After that, she was able to open up for Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, The Wreckers, and Howie Day.

General spoiler about Kate’s appearances (source: USA TODAY): K-Fed’s character is named Jason, and he’s a cocky guy who is also the frontman for the band No Means Yes. Jason is pushed aside when people hear Mia, a young singer/songwriter, playing her own stuff – and love it. Kate is playing Mia. She will be playing five or six songs during this season. She told USA today, “It’s a great way to get the music out to people – it’s the perfect audience.”

Episode 5×01 – Four Years, Six Months, and Two Days
Lucas has published a book, but has writer’s block and cannot write his second novel. Brook is in New York, a fashion designer for her line Clothes over Bros. Peyton is pursuing a music career. Nathan and Hayley are taking care of their baby, James. However, Nathan may be in a wheel chair, and he also may be an alcoholic.

Episode 5×02 – Racing Like A Pro
The nanny hunt is on for Hayley, Peyton and Brooke. Meanwhile, Lucas and Skills work on a soap box racing car for James. Lucas starts to date a girl named Lindsay. Brooke has problems in her company.
