Do you have a favorite TV show pet?

I’m not positive that this is my favorite TV show animal, but as my sister has brought her new kitten around – and I have always adored felines, the first animal that pops into my head is from one of my absolute favorite shows, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I’m talking about Miss Kitty Fantastico. Did you ever hear a better name for a cat? No, you probably didn’t. I don’t think that name can actually be topped!

Willow: I keep thinking ‘Okay, that’s the cutest thing ever.’ And then she does something cuter and completely resets the whole scale.

Cats are regal, and as such, deserve regal names. Why name your cat Joan (little inside Buffy joke for the fans) when you can name it something with three words!

This particular kitty belonged to Willow Rosenberg and Tara Maclay. She featured the colors of white, black, and gray – which could possibly have been a commentary for how different characters on the show viewed the world. Or maybe they just though it was the cutest, most well-behaved kitten available at the time. I don’t really know.

Willow: You cannot have more catnip. You have a catnip problem.

Miss Kitty Fantastico made appearances in only three episodes, and yet because of her amazing name, most Buffy fans remember her. This poor kitty was gone for almost two full seasons until season 7, when Buffy’s younger sister, Dawn, let’s us know what happened to her by saying, “I don’t leave crossbows around all willy-nilly. Not since that time with Miss Kitty Fantastico.”

Ah, so it was Dawn. Well, wouldn’t you know!

Still, the kitty was a nice touch, and it showed the bond that was growing between Willow and Tara. There are several Buffy-esque action figures available, and despite it’s three-show appearance, in this set that features both Willow and Tara, there is also a miniature Miss Kitty Fantastico!

Tara: Did you see her yawn earlier?
Willow: Yes! I thought I was gonna die! Oh, I love you Miss Kitty Fantastico…
