Season Three of Party of Five on DVD is Coming Out This Year
TVshowsOnDVD.com has come out to say that finally, finally - season three of Party of Five will be released. My friend Tara, and I, weren’t even sure if it was ever going to be released (the second season was released in 2005) - so this comes as very good news!
You can buy the third season on March 25th, 2008.
Season three of Party of Five first premiered on August 21st, 1996. It’s been a long time, but you’ll still enjoy this. It was always a good show.
Party of Five was a heartfelt family drama that dealt with real-life issues. The show started going downhill when people started making jokes about just how serious and heavy the show had gotten - how every week there was some new huge break-down.
I don’t know that I’d say that’s true, although as the show went from season to season it did pursue some deeper storylines. I was always able to connect to the main characters, who, in their own way, were all just trying to find a niche to fit into, and grow up into adults.
They were trying to grow up, while struggling not to grow apart. This is a much more realistic version of a family than what 7th Heaven ever had to offer. That show always struck me not only as running far too long, but as a sterilized, idealized idea of how family was supposed to be.
If you’re a fan of Lost, you should see Matthew Fox as the eldest brother, Charlie Salinger. Fans of Ghost Whisperer can also see that shows star, Jennifer Love Hewitt, in seasons two through six.
For anyone unfamiliar with the show, Party of Five was centered around a family of five whose parents were killed by a drunk driver, leaving them as orphans. The three older siblings struggled to help each other and take care of their two youngest siblings.
There was also a dog at some point, named Thurber. But he sort of vanished. Not because of magic or anything - he probably was just demanding too big of a trailer.
