American Idol – Suri Cruise a Big Fan!

katie.jpgI guess maybe the term “big fan” is subjective, but how much of a “big fan” can a not even 2-year-old be. Sure, at that age my son was watching Lion King at least once, if not more, every day, and I felt he liked it, but I wouldn’t have called him a fan. He was basically subjected to what I turned on the TV or flipped in the VHS for him. He couldn’t make the decisions for himself and couldn’t change the channel or turn it off. Yet, he sat and stared at it instead of getting in trouble, so I thought he liked it.

Yet, Katie Holmes, costar of the recently released film Mad Money, said this morning on Ryan Seacrest’s radio program that her and Tom Cruise’s daughter, Suri, is a big fan of American Idol. Seacrest asked if she would like tickets to American Idol, and she said she would and would be “eternally grateful.” Apparently a girl that is probably either barely potty trained, or recently so, just can’t get enough of the show. Holmes also said Suri was “growing and talking more.” She isn’t even talking fully yet, but her and Cruise know she’s a big fan.

But American Idol isn’t Suri’s only favorite; she also likes The Spice Girls. Holmes then added in her own thoughts, saying she thought Victoria Beckham was “very sexy,” and her husband, soccer star David Beckham was a nice man and “very good at what he does.” Somehow this conversation about Suri’s likes and dislikes metamorphosed into Holmes’ personal thoughts on the Beckhams.

It all leads me to believe Holmes and possibly Cruise are closet fans of American Idol, but for some reason, she couldn’t bring herself to admit this to Seacrest, choosing to use her daughter as a way to get tickets. I hardly think Suri will be sitting in the audience with pigtails, crying like Sanjaya fan Ashley Ferl. But Ryan, if you’re looking for a real young girl that’s a fan, look up my daughter, Lizzie, 11 years old, and playing Renaldo’s We’re Brothers Forever over and over and over last week. Or even my son, Mike, who recorded the same song on his phone as a ring tone. Or even me. At least I don’t hide behind them. I’ll readily admit to being a fan since my son asked me to turn it on during season one.

  1. You know, I would much more prefer to hear
about your children than anything to do with Tom Cruise. So, I hope your kids get tickets!! Not a slam to your Laura, but
does the world think that Suri Cruise thinks is important. I can just see her as a teen in the news now!
