American Idol – Early Work of San Diego Auditioners

Thanks to some fellow American Idol fans, I uncovered some of the early work of the a couple of the guys that were impressive in their auditions last night in San Diego.

First up is David Archuleta, the young 16 year old who made it to Hollywood last night, despite his paralyzed vocal chord. When he was 12 he was on Star Search, but back in 2002, he sang in front of some of the contestants on the very first American Idol. Kelly Clarkson is directly in front of him, and it looks like Jim Verraros, Christina Christianson, and AJ Gill are there as well.

There are several videos up on you-tube with David, but this next one gave me the chills. He’s singing O Holy Night last Christmas. His vocal chords seem to be just fine now.

Another of the auditioners that made it through to Hollywood was Michael Johns, originally from Australia. Despite coming here from down under, he reminded me more of the The Commitments. Here he sings Fire to a backdrop of pictures of him. He sounds good … and he’s nice to look at.

Based on these videos, I hope these guys make it through Hollywood to the American Idol final 24. If they perform in Hollywood like they did last night, I don’t see why they wouldn’t.
