‘We Need Girlfriends’ is Compulsively Addictive, Like Skittles
I’m not sure what you think WNG might stand for, but from now on it stands for just one thing when you’re reading my entries: We Need Girlfriends. Sadly, I’m not a frat boy (okay, not so sad) so it’s not something ‘funny’ I’d say to a fellow ‘bro’, or anything like that. Instead, it’s the name of my favorite webisode series on YouTube.Wait, make that - my favorite webisode series that has been bought by CBS and will now appear on TV.
IAH! That stands for I am happy. Or, International House of Pancakes, if you move the ‘H’ to the left, change the ‘A’ to an ‘O’ and then add a ‘P’. And then you might as well do the Hokey Pokey since you’re being so proactive.
The series focuses on three male best friends that just graduated from college: Tom (Patrick Cohen), Rod (Evan Bass), and Henry (Seth Kirschner). In the first webisode they found themselves all dumped by their respective girlfriends. Not even boxes of alphabetized porn can heal that pain. At least not in the first five minutes. In fact, forget porn (every guy reading this just had their jaw drop, that’s literally fifty million five jaws!) and just have a game night to feel better.

Insight to the male mind is very scary territory and I do not advise you enter alone. For instance, they can and will quote movies like Bring it On, watch eight consecutive hours of Three’s Company, get competitive about Jenga, and get concerned about ‘low-budget’ Myspace pages. And that’s pretty much all just in one day.
Nevertheless, it’s too fun to not watch. I’ve seen every episode, and some of them twice. It’s no surprise to me that it’s Darren Star (creator and executive producer of the liberal-minded Sex and the City) who is going to be working on the new WNG TV show. Even if he weren’t, it would be great. No, better than great. Is superstupendous a word? Well, it is now.
We Need Girlfriends has been produced by Ragtag Productions, which is headed up by Angel Acevedo, Brian Amyot and Steven Tspapelas. What they’ve done is proof that you can work your way to prime time TV through actual talent, and probably a bunch of coffee and discussions about the movie Scream (good movie).

Memorable Quotes:
“I cannot live in a house where my squirrels are not safe from scamming!” - Rod
“Did you wake me up to talk about my Myspace page?!” - Tom
“Sarah just posted a blog, and I think it might be about you.” - Rod
“Why do you think it’s about me?” - Tom
“It’s called…I probably never loved Tom.” - Rod
“Rod have you ever been on a date before?” - Tom
“What am I, gay?” - Rod
“Actually my last good memory is when we played the Saved by the Bell board game and I dated both Zach and Slater.” - Henry
“You were a pimp that night.” - Rod
Possibly my favorite webisode so far:
And did I happen to mention the superb choices for they play on the episodes? Here’s a video for Just Impolite by the band Plushgun:
Bonus Video! What do Molly Ringwald and Napolean Dynamite have in common? (Hint: you’ll have to watch the entire video):
Are you hooked yet? Ready to start a marathon? Well, don’t forget to check out the T-shirts you can buy from Cafepress.com. Wear them with pride, baby.
I call squirrel on Rod. Don’t be scammin’ on my squirrel. I recently learned how to judo-chop.
Until next time,

We need Girlfriends is amazing, and the interviews of Angel, Steven and Brian were awesome. I’m very excited for WNG on tv. =]
(And you can definatley call squirrel on Rod as long as I can call squirrel on Henry.)

Yay, I’m glad you enjoyed them. I’m going to be posting the Evan (Rod) interview today!
I don’t want Tom to feel left out, we will share him
…I swear I am not talking about the characters like they are piece of meat.
Pieces of…pie?
Tom - Apple Pie
Henry - Banana Cream Pie
Rod - Blueberry Pie
Why do I talk about pie these days? I don’t even like pie that much. I think I’m hungry for lunch. LoL.
