‘Greek’ is a Gratifying Guilty Pleasure

Given that there isn’t a huge abundance of stuff to watch on TV, I want to tell you about a guilty pleasure show I’ve watched: Greek. Technically it’s: GRΣΣK. It goes by both spellings. This is an ABC Family show that began in July of 2007. It’s been off since this September, but I believe it’s coming back in late March.

It’s an hour-long show that I suppose you’d call a dramedy (drama+comedy). It’s really not too intense, which is why I can watch it while I’m cleaning my room. (And seriously, how does my room get so messy?) The ‘cheese’ factor of some plots gets a little high at times, but it’s fun and entertaining.

The show is about Greek life on a college campus – centering mostly around two frats and one sorority. That’s of interest to me because I was a sorority girl for a year. I left for lots of reasons, but nothing scandalous. That’d be a much more interesting story. (If anyone has pictures of me stealing stuff from a fraternity house – that was part of a game and they stole our stuff first. I like, totally swear it? Note: Writing rhyming ransom notes is actually pretty fun.)

Anyway, I’m always interested in seeing how they’re portrayed, and how much is true to the experience I had. I’m afraid I cannot reveal sorority secrets, though. The things we did behind doors is something you’ll have to join to know. Providing that you’re a female. Or you can dress in drag like that Barry Watson movie I never saw but still know of.

But just look at those crazy kids in the picture up above, you know they’re gonna get into some wacky hijinks.

In all honestly, I’d choose to watch this over certain CW shows that would seem similar.

Until I watch and review Lost,
