Big Brother 9 - The New Cast
It’s still hard to believe for us Big Brother fans that we don’t have to wait until summer, getting a bonus season this year thanks to the writers’ strike. We’re still walking around asking people to pinch us, to make sure it’s true. Yet, now that the cast is up at cbs.com, it’s getting a little easier to believe that this Tuesday we start all over again with a brand new cast. Armed with the knowledge that the houseguests will be walking in along with who the show considers their “soul mate,” here’s a quick introduction to them so you can know who everyone is as they walk into the house for the very first time.
Alex, 24, Staten Island, New York, a DJ Entertainment Company Owner. He was raised by a single mom, meeting his dad for the first time as a high school student, yet losing him at the World Trade Center during 9/11. With a bachelor’s degree in business, he’s pursuing his master’s in early childhood education. Being that he’s appeared on a billboard and in a music video, he must also do some modeling/acting. He likes watching soccer and hockey, and has five turtles. His favorite movie is Wedding Crashers. He seems extremely likable, and like a mixture of Nick and Eric from last season.
Ryan, 27, Columbus, Ohio, College Student. With a major in economics and business, Ryan claims to be popular and always the center of attention. He’s also loud, stubborn, opinionated and a troublemaker. Despite this, he has never voted, but plans to this year. He has an American Pit Bull Terrier named Jada. seeing himself as easygoing with a good sense of humor, he is a seeking a woman who is pretty, intelligent, and aware of what she’s doing in life. Yeah, good luck with that.
Parker, 26, Northridge California, Paparazzo. This guy graduated with a degree in radio/television from Soother Illinois and works as a photographer for TMZ. He also spent time in the military, but received a general discharge after not being able to conform to military standards. Also raised by a single mom, he claims to wear his heart on his sleeve, yet is also unpredictable, inappropriate … and authentic, as if all that goes together. His “power of persuasion” could come in handy in the Big Brother house. He once lost 45 pounds and has three tattoos. With two lizards for pets, he also enjoys playing the Ii and laughing at other people’s expense, another thing that could come in handy on Big Brother. He likes to watch Weeds and Desperate Housewives and his favorite film is American Beauty. This guy is quite interesting and could make it pretty far.
Jacob, 23, Dallas, Texas, Electrician. He, too, was once in the service, as a Marine. (His bio lists him as an “ex-Marine,” but my family members would tell me there is no such thing.) He has lived all over the world, and even attended school in Okinawa, Japan. Funny, energetic, and caring, he is most proud of graduating Boot Camp. Enjoying wake-boarding, soccer and model cars, he likes to watch football and soccer. He has three tattoos, including one that his ex designed, and he admits he still has feelings for her. A religious guy, his favorite TV show is Monday Night Football, and his favorite film is The Rock. He could have huge conflicts with Parker.
James, 21, Sarasota, Florida, Riding Bicycle Around the World. This guy is definitely different, and I think people will either love him or hate him. On the show despite being on the missing to bike around the world, he also worked in Buenos Aires dressing mannequins at one point. He thinks he’s insane and crazy with different personalities, and was the “freak” in high school, always wearing costumes. Enjoying music by The Clash, his favorite film is Fight Club. Having seven tattoos, he was engaged to an older woman once. Yeah, big, big clash with Jacob.
Neil, 29, Los Angeles, California, Realtor. Does this guy remind you of Each at first, or what? While he studied criminology, criminal justice, political science, and business management, he never earned a degree. He’s close to his mother, and no matter what they talk about, they always end up laughing, helpful now that she is going through a divorce. Coming out to L.A. from Texas with the intent on being a model, he gave it up because of the phony people. Enjoying many sports as well as going to the beach, he oddly admits to still playing ding dong ditch with his little brother. Dude, you’re 29. He’s gay, and feels his is loyal, outgoing, and energetic. I think he’ll be well-like din the house, as he seems pretty open. He might get along with Parker, since he hates phonies, and Parker hates structure.
Joshuah, 25, Dallas, Texas, Advertising Media Buyer. Playing football from 4th grade all the way through school, he now loves college ball. He has a fear of snakes, thinking they’re the spawn of Satan. Okey dokey. While he played straight all through high school with girlfriends and the football thing, he then came out when he was 18, although he currently considers himself bisexual. His family is still upset with him because of the time he slept with his sister’s cheerleading coach, which ruined her career in cheering. He’s definitely interesting, and being that he says he doesn’t care what people think, he could cause a lot of friction in the house, yet could also get along with everyone.
Adam, 29, Del Ray Beach, Florida via Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Public Relations Manager. His calling seems to be fashion, as he studied at Parson’s School of Design in New York and Fashion Art Italy in Italy, despite currently being in PR. He, of course, considers himself to be very stylish, and even has his own clothing label. Very close to his mom, this guy considers himself to be quite the casanova with the ladies. Not being easily intimidated, he doesn’t hold back in an argument, and prefers to settle disagreements sooner rather than later. Now, we know the show publishes only the bio info they choose to, but why discuss the way he argues? It makes you wonder if they think he will be arguing a lot on the show.
Matt, 23, Charleston, Massachusetts, Roofing Foreman. This is Matt’s second reality show, having previously appeared on Fear Factor. He’s an only child and is extremely close to his mom, with his dad passing away when Matt was 9. With a Boston accent, he also has a ripped body, which he makes sure everyone sees “365 days a year.” Yuck. Him himself finds that he is handsome, charming, and spontaneous. One of his three tattoos is his own initials. He, too, owns turtles, yet only one. Enjoying the Red Sox and New England Patriots, he likes to play hockey and basketball. His favorite TV show is Entourage, and his favorite films are Blow, Casino, and Jerry Maguire, while he enjoys hip hope, rock, and R&B. He keeps most of his execs around for “booty calls,” and thinks America will love him on Big Brother. Maybe his soul mate is himself.
Allison, 28, Boston, Massachusetts, Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. With a bachelor’s degree in art/psychology, she spent one semester at sea doing world travel. Still involved in art, she paint and partly owns a pottery studio. Also enjoying exercising and critiquing movies, she once aspired to be a professional gambler, but after she failed, she refuses to do it at all. Seeing herself as confident, agile, and sexy, she is still interested in world travel, including going to Mother Theresa’s Orphanages. She admits guys usually like her, while girls don’t, and she has in the past juggled more than two men at a time. I can’t decide whether she is a better match for Matt or Jacob.
Sharon, 23, Olathe Kansas, Realtor. A military brat, she’s easily adaptable, spirited and lively, feisty and dramatic, and sweet. Despite her young age, she has been in an on again/off again 12 year relationship. Also working as a restaurant hostess, she enjoys talking, tanning, and drama. Seriously, who says they enjoy talking in a bio? Her favorite TV shows are Friends and Big Brother, and her favorite film is The Break-Up. Having a belly button piercing and a self-designed tattoo, she has a cat and an American Bulldog. She’s a fan of the Carolina Panthers. Compared to Allison, she seems very shallow.
Natalie, 28, Salem, Oregon, Bikini Barista. Another military brat, she studied at a community college in Salem as well at the Art Institute in Las Vegas. She considers herself religious and carries her Bible everywhere, making you wonder if that includes to the bikini contests she’s fond of entering. She can make any coffee drink imaginable, while wearing a bikini. Enjoying painting as well, she dreams of opening up a “mermaid art” store. Her ideal partner should be smart, healthy, adventurous, with big muscles, and like football. It’s also important he love God and Jesus. She has two cats and a Jack Russell terrier. One name comes to mind. Jacob.
Chelsia, 21, Cedar Falls, Iowa, College Student. A German major, she has lived in Germany, and plans to study in Austria come September. A hot party girl, she likes older men, and find herself wild, sincere, competitive, and determined with a ‘tude. She’d like to sell Harley’s and has a cat. Her favorite TV shows are Big Brother and Nip/Tuck, with her favorite films being American Beauty and Running With Scissors. She enjoys the music of Tool and Marilyn Manson. Having three tattoos, she’s had everything pierced. With the same favorite movie as Parker, maybe there’s a love match here.
Amanda, 23, Fridley, Minnesota, Paralegal. Her mother is her best friend, and after the death of her father, she considers herself to be the strong one of the family. She loves to cook Italian and sends her friends daily inspirational messages by texting. She enjoys running, dancing, entertaining, shopping, and football, having played Powder Puff in high school. She has two cats, and has been wondering where all the good mean are in the world. If she argues good, she could be a match for Adam.
Jen, 26, Columbus, Ohio, Bartender. She admits to being a party girl that jumps from one relationship to the next. Outspoken, she loves attention, especially from boys, but is loyal to her current boyfriend. And how is that going to work with the soul mate thing going on? With a bachelor’s degree in education, she’s certified to teach Special Ed. She was a Special Ed. teacher for awhile, and misses it, wanting to go back. Energetic, adventurous, and beautiful, she has double pierced ears, a pierced tongue, and four tattoos. Enjoying cheerleading and watching football, her favorite TV show is Big Brother, never missing an episode, and her favorite film is Blade. She has as dog and a box turtle. Perhaps a good match for Matt, being they seem to both be looking for booty calls. They might both enjoy the jack shack.
Sheila, 45, Reseda, California via Memphis, Tennessee, Single Mom and Former Model. Leaving modeling behind to be a stay-at-home mom, she also studied acting for fifteen years. She was once the Penthouse Pet of the Year and lived with Bob Guccione for ten years, the probable basis of the book she is writing about her life, along with the fact she’s one of Scott Baio’s exes. Admitting to having a temper, she says she stands her ground, not letting others intimidate her, even if she’s crying on the inside. Her most proud accomplishment is becoming a mother, and her married sister is her hero, after donating a kidney to one of her kids. She has a dog named Kitty, and recently broken up with her boyfriend. 16 years older than the next oldest person in the house, she’s an interesting addition to the cast. James likes older women, but I don’t see that one as a love match.
Additional rumors out there are that Natalie is a former stripper, and Jen and Ryan had a previous relationship. If they get paired up as soul mates, it could be just as interesting as if they have to watch each other be with others in the house. Originally, I wasn’t too thrilled with this twist, but reading up on everyone in the house, I’m getting more and more excited. It all starts this Tuesday, and if it follows like previous seasons, they’re already in the house together, to give enough material for the first and second show.
