Reactions to Lost : 4×03 The Economist

Thursday, February 14th is when the third episode of the fourth season of Lost aired. It was called The Economist and it was a Sayid-centric episode.
When we began, Sayid looked like he was communing with nature. But he was actually feeling very sad about Naomi dying. He went over to her. And then he stole her bracelet. It’s hard out there for a pimp and a Lostie – ya know?
Meanwhile, the new people wanted to know where Ben was. (I know – probably off being creepy and evil!) Miles delivered some great sarcasm, but I think no one is taking him as a serious enough threat. Is he all talk, or does he have any power? He called the Losties yahoo’s – which I just find really amusing.
In exchange for taking him off the island, Sayid has to bring Charlotte back to the other three new guys. Daniel seems especially concerned about her. Do I sense a crush?
Then we zoomed to a Sayid flash forward where J-crew was sponsoring his look. Looks like we now know who another one of the Oceanic six is! Whoa. Ready for even more whoa? He shot a guy while they were playing golf. I guess Sayid didn’t go into anger management when he returned from the island. He was probably busy, though.
I think it’s interesting to note that he had a gun on him, as though he was anticipating being confronted by people that he thinks deserve to die. What happened? We learn later that there is a reason he has a gun on him at all times.
Locke was leading everyone to the cabin, but the cabin wasn’t where he thought it was. Did it move, or is Locke crazy? And even if it did move, could Locke still be crazy? Crazy, bald, and awesome. Hurley was all for team release!Charlotte. Me too. I’m not cool with kidnapping, it’s a lifestyle I adhere too. Then again, I’m not lost on an island with no diet coke. I might go crazy if that were the case.
We had a nice Jate (Jack/Kate) moment. Oh boy, Kate was flirting hardcore. And so was Jack. Kate smiled like crazy, and Jack was all ‘me no need you, go away!’ Jack told Kate to go with Sayid. Jack the mentioned that Kate would be safe becuase Sawyer won’t let anyone hurt her. Oooh, tension.
But – Kate has a gun. She can take care of herself!
And then we saw Sayids hair. And boy, is it pretty hair. He did not have access to nice products on the island, plus the humidity didn’t help. I think Sayid’s hair should win some sort of award. The Lost hair award moments.
So, Sayid et al tracked to the barracks and found Hurley tied up in the cabin, when they were looking for Ben. Hurley and Locked had disagreed earlier. But would Sawyer really let Locke do that to Hurley? Well, it turns out that Hurley was just a diversion. And he probably wouldn’t have done that if he didn’t know that it’d get him away from Locke and Ben.
Miles was being suspicious, and Hurley was funny and endearing. Miles was also very interested in Ben’s house. Maybe he wanted to borrow some clothes. Oh wait, he wants to kill him, or something. That’s probably why he wants him.
There was this thing with Daniel and Jack and everyone else over there – where Daniel was talking with the boat. He was trying to get a payload. But it didn’t arrive and he was mystified. Then Juliet and Desmond arrived. They looked vaguley amorous. But that’s probably just me.
Sayid found a secret passage area in Ben’s house. He just seemed to know it was there. Inside was money (euros?), passports, and shirts hanging. All of a sudden, in another room, Kate turns around and trains her gun on…Sawyer! He gestures for her to be quiet. She calls out for Sayid anyway. When Sayid ran out, Locke was there. Hurley said, “Sorry dude” to Sayid.
I wonder if Sawyer counted on Kate to call out and have Sayid intercepted? Or was Locke going to get him anyway. Sawyer was just there to keep Kate occupied. But not with his lips. There was some cute Skate (Sawyer/Kate) moments. Aw. I can’t decide if I like Jate or Skate!
And you know what – forget the cute stuff. There was also a hot moment!
Kate: “So what, I’m your prisoner?”
Sawyer: “If that sort of thing turns you on.”
AH!
Sawyer then made an excellent point. He was saying how he wanted to stay on the island cause he had nothing to go back to, and he didn’t know why Kate wanted to go – becuase she would have to go to jail! Damn, how did I forget that! Why does Kate wanna go back – and to jail? The island can’t be that bad! The Skate moment became romantic and I swear I thought Sawyer was going to propose to Kate.
Kate: “How long do you think we can play house?”
Sawyer: “Why don’t we find out?”
Okay, as a girl I have to tell you – that is totally swoonworthy.
In the Sayid flash forward he was hooking up with a girl, and it turned out he was with her to kill her boss. But he liked her, too. And she was upset he had played her. But then she shot him! It turns out she’d been playing him. But, you really can’t mess with Sayid and he shot her dead. Is it wrong to still mention that Sayid’s hair was still really pretty?
He went over to the girl and closed her eyes. I sort of want to believe he was remembering Shannon.
On the island, Sayid brought Charlotte back, but left Miles and Kate behind. They go on the helicopter and Sayid has them bring Naomi’s body home.
Hurt, Sayid had to go somewhere. It looked like a Veterinarian clinic. We heard a voice, and it sounded like Ben’s. Why did it sound like Ben’s voice? … Cause it is Ben. Sayid is working for Ben. Damn, Ben has weird vodoo magic, I think.
Sayid: “They know I’m after them now.”
Who is them???! Anyone wanna venture a guess? I’m going to guess…the girls from Sex and the City!
