Semi-Charmed Lives: Fannish Videos set to Third Eye Blind Songs
The self-titled album by Third Eye Blind is a CD from the 90’s that I have beloved since I got it. That album, in particular, has so many hidden gems on it. I decided to play a game and see if my favorite TV show fandoms had music videos for songs (on YouTube) from Third Eye Blind, specifically that album. I did pretty well in my search.
We’re going to kick this off (baby!) with perhaps the best-known Third Eye Blind song, Semi-Charmed Life. And isn’t that a perfect title for a music video for Sam and Dean Winchester from Supernatural? Watching this makes me realize how well Jensen Ackles can do physical comedy. His face is so expressive. Oh man, why can’t we all be as happy as Dean? (Of course, he isn’t happy all the time, but you know what I mean!)
Here’s a Veronica Mars music video set to How’s it Going to Be? It’s Logan/Veronica centric. Star-crossed, hot, and oh-so fun.
This is a Gilmore Girls video set to Never Let You Go from a different 3eb (Third Eye Blind) album. But it’s good. It spans all of the series and shows 150 million different relationships on the show. There’s even a moment where we see Rory and Tristan’s kiss! Bittersweet, crazy, romantic, and epic. It’s all there. I don’t know about you - but if love isn’t bittersweet, crazy, romantic, and epic - I don’t want it! And yes, epic is a word that ‘belongs’ to the Veronica Mars fandom, but work with me!
One of the best Buffy the Vampire Slayer music videos I’ve ever seen is set to Graduate. Watching it makes me all kinds of nostalgic. Buffy was at its best in the high school years. Old skool Buffy! Well, literally. Haha. You may not have had to stake vampires and kill giant snakes to graduate high school, but I’m sure you had your fair share of mishaps and battles. So, you can relate.
The editing is really great in this video. I especially love the end when it cuts from the core Scooby group to their yearbook pictures. It’s a shame Buffy never got one. Drat that Cordelia!
I have (I can’t not) to give you one more Buffy vid. This is to the song Jumper. It’s funny how when you see a video with scenes you’ve seen a thousand (and one) times, but the color is tweaked - you can see everything sort of differently. I like that a lot. The lyrics are so perfect for the Buffy and Angel relationship, but it is a tiny bit of a downer. There were certainly a lot of depressing times for the duo. Of course, that’s just one side of the picture.
Okay. This last video is the reason I wanted to do this post. I wanted to see who was utilizing the amazing songs from this album. This song is called Motorcycle Driveby and it’s beautiful. I’m stoked that the video I found for it is for Jim and Pam (Jam) from The Office. The lyrics are perfect, and I love the tempo of this song - the way it goes slow and then builds up while the lyrics are exploring the very essence of love. Or something. Just watch?
