ABC is Sending “Cupid” Back to Earth

The TV show Cupid is being given another chance by ABC.

Piven was CupidIn grade school we studied Greek and Roman Mythology, which was undeniably fun. One of the things we had to do was get into groups and make up ideas of new Gods - with creative names and job titles. But one God you’d never want to replace is Cupid - the Roman God of Love. (In Greek, his counterpart is Eros.)

Tell a child Eros is going to shoot him and they might be scared. But tell a child that Cupid is going to shoot them and they’ll probably squirm and say something about cooties. This, of course, is depending on their age. As we get older many of us want Cupid to shoot us with his arrow so that we can find love. (Or maybe you just have a weird thing for pain. No judgment!)

TV executives can’t promise you true love (even if you’re on The Bachelor), but they can do something for you that might also make you smile. They’re bringing back the show Cupid. The show had fifteen episodes in 1998, then it was canceled. The creator of the show is a familiar name for many Veronica Mars fans - it’s Rob Thomas. Who is, no, not the lead singer of Matchbox 20. This is a different guy.

The original guy playing Cupid was Jeremy Piven, but since he’s already involved with the show Entourage, someone else will be cast. Oh - am I forgetting to say what the show is about? Well, it’s about a guy who thinks Zeus sent him to Earth to play matchmaker. Fun, huh? I’ll be watching.
