How I Met Your Mother : Ted is Romantic and Britney Spears is Just Plain Awful
Last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother did what it had to do to get a renewal for next season. Britney Spears was on the show, and the ratings for the show were good. I just wonder if this will backfire. People tuned in to see if Britney would fall over or not (she didn’t). But this was also a chance for the show to gain new fans. And if that was the case – I doubt it worked. The episode was one of the worst ever.
So, in the episode Ted got a crush on his Doctor, Stella. When he thinks he’s going on a date with her, it’s a miscommunication and he ends up being on an outing with her and all of her friends. He also ends up paying for them all. They played a haphazard version of telephone in the theater. It was a little gimmicky. But, it would be fun to do. So now I have to find a bad movie to see so I can do that. Of course, finding a bad movie shouldn’t be too hard. Zing!

“Britney Spears was on our show? Oh geez.”
Here’s a number for you: 8.3 seconds. That’s how long Barney says it takes a woman to decide if she wants to sleep with you. What do you think? Do first impressions count that much? Don’t you ever change your mind?
To touch upon Britney Spears I have to say, she can’t act. I could tel how badly she wanted to be able to act and be good. I think she probably tried. But she didn’t do well. It brought the entire show down. People will defend her, saying this is the best she’s looked in a year, that she wasn’t drunk, etc. And fine. Maybe this is the best she’s done for a while. But we don’t need her best, when someone else could have filled this role and made it memorable for a good reason.
Brit was playing Abby, the receptionist. Because Stella likes Abby, Ted decides to get to Stella through the receptionist. Abby develops a crush on Ted.
When Ted brings her coffee – this small gesture makes her love him. This seems to somewhat mimic her real life. When she met K-Fed, he treated her different than other guys so she decided he was the guy she should marry. Rashness is her forte in character, and out. Abby made sweet googly eyes. She had one funny line that she delivered wel (imagine it being said at warp-speed): “That’s funny. That’s funny, smart, and great!” Britney did deliver that well. But I just tried that line, myself – and even I can make it sound funny. So, kudos to the writers!
I turnede out that Stella was also at the St. Patty’s day party that Ted was at. The problem was that Stella won’t date Ted because she’s got a kid and she has no time for anyone else.
Ted decides to take Stella on a two minute date. IT was super fast and it was totally cute. He was dedicated and planned the most perfect event. Ted and Stella have humor that complements each other so well. If a guy is willing to do grand romantic gestures for you and you really like him – you’ll swoon forever. Ted says he knows she’s too busy now, but that she should call him someday. She might end up being the mother. Of course, since she has a kid and older-Ted is saying how he met his kids mother, and now their mother and their half-sister, I don’t think the mother is Stella.
And after that great part of the episode, then there was a stupid Britney Spears thing. Her acting seemed forced and ugh, I just didn’t like it. It was a great role for a guest star. I just don’t think she was the right person for it, to do the role justice. The episode seemed to cater to Britney, and ultimately, this is an episode I won’t watch again.
