Do you have an Emily Gilmore-esque Mom?
I have always held a special place in my heart for the show Gilmore Girls. It has a perfect mix of heart and wit. (To try and extol the virtues of this show would drive me crazy and take hours.) The cornerstone of the show is the dynamic between Lorelai and her daughter Rory. They have the best mother/daughter relationship I’ve seen on TV. Not that it never came with fights or hardships. But since when is life perfect?
I’ve found that there are actually people out there with mother/daughter relationships similar to theirs – with all of the amazing good stuff. However…
When it comes to dysfunctional relationships with mother’s, Lorelai wins. So I raise a glass today to anyone with difficult Moms. May you overcome the years of emotional turmoil they put us through, and then charge the therapy bills to them!
JACKSON: She’s so excited.
LORELAI: She’s brainwashed. She’s Patricia Hearst and my mother is the SLA.

Well, my mom sometimes can ROCK!! But most of the time we’re exactly like Lorelai and Emily! Fights over fights over fights… Why do you do this, why do you wear that, I wouldn’t go to work with these shoes and so on. And I’m 23 years already!! ^^

My mom is exactly like a mix of Emily Gilmore…and Mrs. Kim. Yep. Ugh.

Stephanie, can I just hug you? *Hugs* Do you have a great Dad, maybe?
I have another TV Mom-centric post coming up, but it’s more ‘funnish’. Or something. Hehe.

Thank goodness I had a Lorelai Gilmore-esque mom. She was my best friend my whole life up until the day she died. I really miss her. I hope that my girls think of me more of a Lorelai Gilmore-esque type of mom. I am closer to my youngest daughter, but I have a close relationship with them both. My oldest and I have had some really deep moments and conversations about very personal things and used to do a lot together before she moved away, but it is my youngest that I do more things with plus we are able to talk to each other about anything and everything. She and I really have a lot in common.

Awww. It sounds to me that you are definitely more of a Lorelai than anyone else.
I bet all of your daughters are grateful. I’m glad you had a good relationship with your mother, too. < 333
