When Life Pulls You Down - TV Show Fanvids Are There For You
Listen up - ’cause here’s an easy statement to apply to your roller coaster existence: when life sucks, you need some music. Sad music will let you wallow (Sarah McLachlan never lets me down - Felicity Porter (Felicity) and I have that in common), but if you’ve got any intentions of pulling yourself up out of the proverbial sludge - you need something with a fast, makes you dance, amps up your heart - beat. So, that’s what I’m gonna deliver here.
I listen to DVD commentary for my favorite shows, which - while sometimes time consuming, is always rewarding. I believe it was for commentary on the pilot of Alias where I heard J.J. Abrams say that for the infamous strut that Sydney does in her red-magenta hair in an airport, he had music going so that Jennifer Garner would really nail that strut. And if five seasons of a show (and a successful movie career) can say anything - I think it says she did.
I will add that my method here, with these vids, is Jessica-is-not-a-doctor-but-boy-does-she-look-pretty-in-a-white-jacket approved, and when I tested it, it worked. So save this page. Because we all know life can be a real bitch.
Oh - and this is also the next installment in the Sofachip Fanvid Appreciation Awards. So if you’re featured here, go on and claim your banner after the jump.

Let’s kick this off with my favorite TV Doctor, Dr. House. He may be cranky, but he inspired one of my favorite House M.D. fanvids. The Gorillaz - Feel Good inc. song is perfect for a video with fast pacing and as much glee as there is angst. It doesn’t matter WHO you ship with House - if you like him, if you like the show - you’re gonna like this video. No. I take it back. You’re gonna love it.
di0br - Windmill, Windmill:
Lily Kane and Veronica Mars (Veronica Mars) were BFF, even after death. Not to be weirdly emotional here, but isn’t that the way friendships should go? You may not see a ghost, but you’ll certainly feel one. Amazing moments from season one are packed into this video with the Paramore song, Emergency. If I was on American Idol as a judge I might say that it is a perfect song choice. Since I’m (luckily) not I’ll just dance around in my bare feet and let the video play with my speakers turned up to maximum volume. You know what? I bet that’s something Lily and Veronica did a lot. Not…gonnna…cry…
MixedFate - Emergency:
Same show - but this time let’s dim the lights and get a little romantic, okay? Just…watch your hands. Cyndi Laupers’ song Time After Time has been covered by many a band (Tegan and Sara do a cover I adore to itty bitty pieces) and Quietdrive do it justice. Veronica and Logan, they’re epic. We all know this. Awesome fading effects and hyped-up color compliment this video that shows us every reason why we love them. (The vidder says on her page that the colors were not what she had wanted - but I’d call this a happy accident.) For most fans of VM, we all want a Logan, and maybe every Logan wants a Veronica. We can hope.
BedfordGirl - Time After Time:
I’ve never before heard the song Supermoves by Overseas, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t perk my mood up right away. Sydney Bristow has got the moves, and all the wigs and tear-off outfits to match. No one can ever call Alias boring. If they do, smack them in the face and make them watch this video, and all of season one. Season five of Alias may have left some (like me) wondering why we ever liked this show. This video makes me remember why.
DarkAngelJoy - Supermoves:
This last one was recommended by Amanda, and while we don’t know who actually made it, I still think you all need to watch it!
Firefly - I Need a Hero:
