The New Kathy Reichs Novel is Coming Out in August (”Bones” Inspiration)

Devil BonesMonday’s episode of Bones was (and I don’t want to oversell this) SUPER-FREAKING-FANTASTIC. Aside from that thought, could you help from noticing how often Bones’ books were mentioned? I don’t think this was a ploy, I think it made sense in the story. But it did get me interested in following-through on actually reading the books by Kathy Reichs that inspired this TV show. Inspired by, based on? I think it gets a little muddled, from what I hear the books are different, even though the character is named Temperance Brennan, just as on the show. I don’t think I will mind, though – because the study of forensic anthropology is interesting.

The first book Reichs’ wrote about Brennan (published in 1997) is called Déjà Dead. The latest book (out in August 2008) is called Devil Bones. I suppose I’ll want to read them in order, so I won’t get to that one for a bit. Oh well!

Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) have great (I don’t want to say ‘chemistry’…) vibrations between them, that the end of the episode really picked at our emotions.

Fox TV is doing well.

If you’ve read any of these novels, what do you think of them?

  1. I’ve read all of the books so far, and I think they’re wonderful. Definitely more adult than the show, but they’re still great.
Yeah, the books “inspired” Bones, but the show’s more based on/inspired by Kathy Reich’s life. The only similarity between the books and the show is that the main character is Dr. Temperance Brennan, and she’s a forensic anthropologist.

I would still recommend reading them, though. :D

  2. Excellent, I look forward to reading them! :) Thank you for your comment.

  3. the books are awesome. the books are about bones when she is older, the tv show is more ment to be about when she is younger, thats why there are things in the books that dont add up with the tv show, but there are ment to be books coming out that are more like the tv show.

  4. should these be read in order or does it not matter?

  5. Justin – I believe they are to be read in order. But no one says you have to follow the rules :)
