It'll be such a hard loss to the lab to not have Zack. Not only was he brilliant, but he was a part of the family. I know that Hodgins will especially feel this loss. He also said that the reason they cut the 'I'm Sorry' is because of the tear Eric managed to get out in that scene, which is pretty much Zack saying he was sorry (due to the fact that he's normally distant the way Brennan is), so the words would have been redundant, and weren't necessary.
