What TV Shows Got Canceled for Fall 2008?

The networks cancel shows, that’s how we get new ones. It’s the circle of life, without any cute lions. Some of the shows that are canceled will shock us - our mouths contorting curiously as we say ‘huh?’ Others make us glad, smiling with the smug satisfaction we won’t have to accidentally stumble upon them on TV. Still there are others, ones that leave us grieving the loss (Veronica Mars and Angel - here’s lookin’ at you-z). Hopefully none of your favorites were dropped. I’ve compiled some information on shows that are now gone, or soon will be.
When Men in Trees started, I thought I might like it. The truth is, I kind of did. But I kept forgetting to watch. And then it seemed like it was moving to different times and days far too often for me to keep up with it. That’s the reason cited by show creator Jenny Bicks, to TVGuide.com, as to why the show has now been canceled. “I wish the show had not been moved six times and put onto two long hiatuses,” … “No show could survive that.” The good news is that Men in Trees did shoot an alternate final ending and that will air on May 28th, 2008.
Big Shots was canceled by ABC. Not a show I watched, but it had some good actors. Hopefully they’ll all find something better. ABC also axed Cashmere Mafia. Happy times are here again!
Fox said ‘no deal’ to Amy Sherman Palladino’s (Gilmore Girls) show The Return of Jezebel James. Rumor is that Parker Posey did not feel happy on a regular TV show. This is sad news. Even sadder? That Deal or No Deal? show will probably stay on the air for years. Augh!

Word on the Interwebz is that Beauty and the Geek from The CW will be gone now. Which is good news. But are they just going to replace it with something irredeemably dumb like Farmer Wants a Wife?
The CW bids adieu to Crowned: The Mother of All Pagents, Aliens in America, and The Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious. Aliens in America was alright but I wasn’t a big fan. The other two shows I am happy to see gone.
I believe we all know that CBS has canceled Moonlight. I think this was a smart move.
NBC has reportedly canceled The Singing Bee, Las Vegas, Journeyman (old news?), Bionic Woman (ditto) and My Dad is Better Than Your Dad.
So, those are some canceled shows. *Shrugs* My toe hurts.

Two of my shows got cancelled….
Moonlight and October Road…the rest of them were too corny for me to even think about….

Aw. I thought October Road was okay. I just hope better shows are what replace things, not something stupid. Because that? Always sucks. ‘Hey we canceled this show you liked for this other show that no one will like!’

That’s true…I hate when they do that…Your show sucked so we canceled it but here’s another sucky show to take it’s place…GRRRR…

I know. They canceled Veronica Mars for the Pussycat Doll thing, I think. Oy! So unfair. I must cling to hope. In other news, I just saw Milo’s movie ‘Winter Break’ because Netflix was super fast!
Not the best movie ever, but it was cute-ish. Have you seen it?

Is that the one where he sings in? And he’s really young? I haven’t actually seen any movies he has been in yet…
I’m almost over Milo…he always looks so grumpy. I’ve went back to my crush before him…Jensen Ackles… :)(And I haven’t seen the finale yet…)

He does sing a little thing, it’s kind of like a silly rap. It’s probably not worth watching for you, at this point then. Jensen is nice. I’ve never had a major crush on him the way other’s have. Consider him yours…for now!
I’m waiting for the library to deliver my SPN season 1 dvds so I can watch them all the way through!

I think I have loved Jensen since I was about 18 when he was on Days Of Our Lives…I don’t mind Milo…I still go crazy over him…but not like Jensen…*giggle*

Awwww…my dad is better than your dad got cancelled? I’m gonna miss seeing children’s lives be destroyed in front of my very own eyes when they realize their dads know nothing about them.

I have to say, when I (on a whim) saw that show (My Dad…) on TV, I was pretty appalled. It was like, sick. Yes, I vomited right there and then. Just give the children nerf balls and techno music - that’s always a good show and no one’s souls get crushed. I miss GUTS.

So it’s true October Road canceled, I’m so pissed that was a good show.
Taylor Blue | Jun 30, 2008 | Reply
We must have been the only two viewers…I liked that show too!!

The only show I was actually sad to see go was Las Vegas, and even then I can see that happening. Oh well, like you said, “The circle of life.”!
If shows never got canceled we wouldn’t get better, or worse usually, shows in their stead. Renovation is always a good thing.

Hey Gab. You are very optimistic! It’s not usually my style, but it’s cool
I am excited about some new shows like Fringe and Dollhouse. If you think you’d like to check those out, I hope you stop by Sofachip again as I’m sure I’ll be talking more about them! Thanks for your comment.

It sucks, that moonlight got cancelled, I thought it was very good show.
Jessica Rae | Sep 10, 2008 | Reply
I was not a fan of Moonlight, but I believe a lot of people are sad that show is gone.
I’m sorry, Nece.
Catherine - I never saw Kid Nation, but if you loved the show then I’m sorry it’s gone. That is just never-ever-ever of the good!
There are some new shows to be excited about, at least. Did you guys see Fringe last night? It was pretty great.
Taylor Blue | Sep 10, 2008 | Reply
I was one of the one’s bummed Moonlight was canceled. And Jessica I taped Fringe last night to watch it later. I’m glad you say it’s great because then I know I will like it too!
Jessica Rae | Sep 10, 2008 | Reply
Taylor - I know you were a big Moonlight fan. Fringe was good. I hope to write about it later this week. I think it got more interesting and better the longer I watched, at first I was like ‘okay maybe I like this…’ But I definitely do like it.

I knew you knew Jessica…lol…I was just saying in general.
I’m glad you liked it…I will make sure I go blind for that post then.
