The Most Important Notes to Know About The Lost Season Finale

Whether you missed the entire season and just want to know some key points, or you want to compare notes, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve gone over my favorite notes about the Lost season finale.

- Claire. Oh how I love her, miss her, and want her back around. I am holding out hope that she’s still alive. Somewhere. But if she was haunting Kate (unless it was a dream) she’s probably dead.

- Good Morning America aired two alternate ending scenes for the Lost season finale. They had made it sound as though these were two other possible endings. But in reality, I believe these were just shot to throw people off of the real ending. We all know who was really in the coffin, but there was a scene shot with Desmond in it, and one with Sawyer in it. We all know who was really in the coffin…

- It was Locke! And that… was pretty predictable. If you think about it logically, who else did all the characters dislike enough to not care if he died? Ben, sure. But then we saw Ben. And why would Jack ever care about Ben? When the season finale for last year aired and we saw the coffin, my guess (as with many others) was that it was Locke. PREDICTABLE. I don’t like Locke, so it’s not a big loss in my eyes - but, I also think it’s a cheat. If they take Locke back to the island, odds are the island will heal him.

- Speaking of, the island is sure pushy! Ben saying ‘the island demands all of you to go back’ - geez.

- As for what Sawyer whispered to Kate before he jumped, I’ve heard a lot of buzz that it was something about his daughter. Aw.

- More on that…. When Sawyer jumped from the helicopter, I kept thinking of Titantic. Seriously. And I don’t even like the movie. “You jump, I jump, Jack.” Of course, Kate didn’t jump. Maybe the wrong guy jumped.

- I miss Charlie. Why can’t he be back as a ghost?

- Viral advertising, yay! There was a fake commercial during the show for the following site: http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com/ Right after the show it was getting hammered with hits and it was hard to reach, but now it should be fine.

- If you watched the previous episode with the extra unaired footage, you saw a moment during the Oceanic Six press conference where they say that three others were with them, but then died. Those three are identified as Charlie, Boone, and Libby. In an ironic way of using the truth, Charlie is said to have drowned, and the last two had internal injuries. Which - yea, that’s true. And sad! Also, why did they mention these specific three?

- I don’t get why Jack would want them to lie to protect those on the island - everyone wanted to get saved, minus Ben and Locke. What about Sawyer and Juliet? I can’t believe the others agreed to lie. Didn’t Kate want to save Sawyer, at least? No one cares about Claire being saved to be with her baby?

- Desmond and Penny reunited. Good times.

- Walt looks so different. And I don’t care how evil his father was, how could people not go visit him? He’s gone through traumatic events and has no one to talk to about them! It’s not like he did these things, and they all know Michael is now dead. Poor Walt!

- I feel so bad for Sun. We knew it was coming - we already knew that Jin wouldn’t be with her when she was saved. Of course, we didn’t know if he was on the island or dead. Well, he’s dead. And that sucks.

- Sun told her father she blames two people for Jin’s death. One is her father, but who is the other? No one really knows. Some say it’s Jack, but that doesn’t really make sense. Is it Ben, Mr. Widmore, Tweety bird? We just don’t know!

- Okay, Charlotte, as predicted, was returning to the island. Some say she might be Annie (a childhood friend of Bens’ on the island). Others say maybe Penny is Annie. I think we’ve yet to meet adult-Annie.

- I kept thinking the island was physically moved, but I now think that it actually moved in time. Which, hey, pretty cool.

In the end, we are left with more questions than answers. But, of course, that’s actually the best way for a season finale to keep us hooked for the next season. For those of us who love Lost, I think we’ve already come to understand the show will frustrate us more often than not. But we’re shameless, blameless, addicts. We love every minute of it.

Sirlinksalot: Lost

Now I must leave you with a note that Sofachip is going on a hiatus for an undetermined length of time. Please don’t ask me for how long, ’cause I really don’t know. Please remember to watch good TV.

  1. You don’t like Locke? Are you watching the same show I am? I’d take Locke over Jack (on THIS island, at least) any day. Locke has the power of the island at his command, and will show this in season 5. Jack’s a wimpy little baby next to Locke. Jack cries about wanting to go home, then cries about going back. Jack has no faith, a fatal weakness….

  2. Okay, see, I thought the person in the coffin *was* Ben. Jeremy Bentham? You mean his name wasn’t Benjamin Linus??? What a twist! And sure, Ben showed up at the funeral home — but wasn’t Jack seeing ghosts by that time? (ie. his dad Christian) So I thought for *sure* that it was Ben in the coffin.

I was really surprised that it was Locke instead. Why is Locke calling himself Jeremy Bentham?!

    I love “Lost”. :-)

  3. Well, they’re both terribly damaged and having their mind warped by the island so at this point, I don’t know if there’s anyone on that island that I’d want to willingly follow. I always found Locke a little shady, as I suspect it was written for people to feel. Jack used to seem like the standard, trustworthy guy. Now he’s more interesting with visible flaws - but I still don’t like his (or Locke’s) bossy authority. Though, I understand why they both have that.

Locke is sure he knows what is right, so is Jack - and Jack has ‘logic’ on his side more often, and he’s ‘always been the leader’. Locke has logic but he doesn’t explain it. I really never liked Locke after how he treated Boone. I wish Charlie was in charge, and alive. Or, Desmond!

Had I been in the situation the survivors were in, I would have followed Jack, because I would be desperate to try and get off the island no matter what. (Unless I was wanted for murder like Kate, then I would have followed Locke.)

    Anyway! *Breathes*

I do not know why Locke is using an alias (although, fun fact: he was on ALIAS!) But I suspect it could have something to do with being back from the island (not sure why he’d be back) and everyone thinking that ‘Locke’ was dead.

Is Jack seeing ghosts? Since time travel is possible, is there any way he actually brought his dad back through changing history? Not to save his dad, but to save his sister, Claire. With the idea of constants, maybe Claire needed Christian? I dunno.

    Time will tell!

  4. You don’t like Locke??? He is my favorite character… Jack is cool too. it’s sawyer i cannot stand…

but you are right about the show being frustrating…

  5. Why do you like Locke the most? I liked him in the previous seasons, more. But now he’s becoming like Ben and it’s scary!

I miss the dog. Bring the dog back!
