On my Hiatus I Saved the Cheerleader, then the World!

Sofachip is now off hiatus (we have no remarkable tans to show off – a grave oversight), so you can stop holding your breathe! You were holding your breathe until we returned, right? Good. Good. I certainly missed you all.  I think it’s only natural to come back and talk about  my new favorite TV show: Heroes!

Synposis: How one die-hard TV fangirl rejected Heroes only to come back to it almost two years later and fall in love. (The wedding is next spring.)

Elle Bishop

When Heroes first aired, I watched the pilot and I didn’t dig it. Seriously. I was like, “Eh, superheroes. Eh, too many characters who don’t even meet. Eh, maybe America’s Next Top Model is on instead.” I’m ashamed, but I’m being truthful! I think I watched maybe one other episode (the second) and I decided it just wasn’t for me. And that’s where I thought my story ended. *Cue anticipating music* But it had only just begun…

When my beloved Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) joined the Heroes season two cast, I decided I had to watch. Then, my love for Gilmore Girls alum Milo Ventimiglia was rekindled. So, you probably think I was on board with it all, then. But no. With the strike (a necessary evil), I lost interest. But then I wrangled up the few episodes I missed and I felt love reborn. It was then that I went to my local library website and ordered season one. I didn’t even have to wait that long, only 28 years! (Kidding, maybe three months.)

The Heroes Cast

Now, I write to you having seen every episode (some of them twice). I love this show. I don’t know how I could have been so blind. The stories all intertwine, and I ended up caring about almost every single one of them. This includes the characters we only got to know for a handful of episodes (wah!) like ….well, you know.

See, I won’t write a spoiler here. Because if you haven’t seen Heroes season one yet, I am imploring you to make that your summer mission! Missions are cool, and they don’t have to be impossible. (Dear Mission Impossible movie people, I only watched the last one because Felicity’s Keri Russel was supposed to be in it. Well, I think you know why I’m upset. Refund me!)

So, go buy the DVD box set! We have handy Amazon links for you on our page here whenever you’re ready to purchase it. Heroes season one is addictive, so remember to pace yourselves while watching.

  1. Same happened to me. I saw the first episode and was bored.

Is it really good? Is there romance?

    I am all for watching!

  2. So, I hate to say “I told you so”, but…

    *smirk*. ;)

  3. Naika – I don’t know what it is about the show, but I swear it took over me and I was addicted in a matter of minutes (maybe in the first 15 minutes of the rewatch). I have to say that for sure, I think it is really good. And I’m not someone who is a fan of comic books or superheroes. LoL. I do dig supernatural stuff, plus angst, drama, and humor. All of which are there. I’m also a huge romance junkie. But, like House, Heroes doesn’t have romance in the forefront. That isn’t to say there isn’t any romance in the show (cause there is) but it’s not the main part, where it is on other shows. It’s so exciting I forget, though. But there *are* indeed some couplings to route for, and ‘booo’. Even more in season two.

Amanda – You can say ‘na na na na’ to me for three days, and that is all :P

  4. OMG…I am plugging my ears…I loved Heroes from the first episode and I only watched it because of ‘that guy from Bedford Diaries’ was in it… That is like a swear word!

BUt I am glad you liked it…and I love Kristen Bell in there..she better come back next year…
