The Starter Wife is a one hour drama/comedy (dramedy as some call it) on the USA Network (10/9 central). Molly Kagan (Debra Messing) struggles to reconfigure her life as a single parent. Getting divorced might be the best thing that ever happened to her, even if she can’t see it now. The Starter Wife also stars Judy Davis as Joan McAllister and Chris Diamantopoulos as Rodney. They all have supremely solid acting chops (I’ve never used that phrase before, it’s kind of weird – chops?) and they perform their parts without disappointment.

What do you get while watching? From the character of Molly, you get insight on life from the perspective of an ex-wife, a single parent, a woman who feels (and has undeservedly been) ousted from the cool table at the lunch room. She’s not a victim and it’s because she doesn’t let herself be one. A good bit of the show revolves around politics in different niches. Politics – with Prada bags and better hair.
