How Does Supernaturals’ Sam Winchester Organize All His Books?

It’s no secret that one of my favorite shows of all time is Gilmore Girls. While I may have more in common with Lorelai, I do have a huge penchant for collecting books like Rory did. Not only do I get an odd thrill out of rearranging my book shelves, but I’ve been (somewhat hopelessly) trying to keep an organized list of the books I’ve bought the past year, the books I’ve read and the books I want to read. But it’s not so easy to keep track of these variables since I’m not a Virgo (the zodiac sign known for organizational skills). This is why I am interested in this book collection software I came across the other day.

The big PRO for this is that it works online to automatically load information so you don’t get stuck (like I do now) typing out the name of the book and the author. From there, the program lets you group books however you’d like. For instance, in the ‘Bad Books I Unfortunately Read’ grouping I would put ‘Twilight’ by Stephenie Meyer.

You can share your book inventory list with other book lovers, including the ability to easily pull up book summaries (to explain why they should read it) and pictures for each book. If you are a Virgo or anything like super-organizer Monica Gellar of Friends, you probably won’t want this. Luckily there is a 30 day trial, since the software is about the price of a nice hardcover book. Then again, the idea of being so organized is really cool - and they also offer another program to organize movies. If you’re a casual book reader or movie watcher then I’d skip this, but if you like to keep a record of everything, All My Books is something to look into a bit more.

  1. I have a little notebook where I’ve been keeping track of every book I’ve read since I was 12. And I allllllways have at least one “books to read” list going. :)

  2. I always have two notebooks…books read and books I want to read…although the latter one is missing and it’s driving me crazy!!

OMG though…I am buying the Twilight series (I have two books already) at Costco. And not I find you are telling me they suck?? What am I going to do????

I am going to have to consult with you before I buy anything now…get ready for your email to be filled… :)

  3. Ker - I tend to go crazy if I enter a book store, writing down books I want to read eventually - often from the library. Hehe. I envy how well your list making goes.

Tay - Well, I honestly did not like the Twilight book at all - I thought it was horribly written, with bad characters and predictable plots. Ergo, boycott on my part! Hehe. But many people do like it. *SHRUG*

  4. I found my book of all my books in it…you are good luck Jessica!
