Felicia Day and Tina Fey are Made of Win (I’m Totally Obsessed with: The Guild)

Felicia Day plays Codex in The Guild

Felicia Day plays Codex in The Guild

I’ve finally discovered The Guild, and I never want to go back to a reality without it. Felicia Day (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog) created The Guild, and also writes and acts for it. Joining her in the cast is Vincent Caso as Bladezz, Jeff Lewis as Vork, Amy Okuda as Tinkerballa, Sandeep Parikh as Zaboo and Robin Thorsen as Clara. Every person in this cast is delightful to watch, although I do have a soft-spot for Codex (Day) and her neutrotically charming behavior that may or may not be something I can personally relate to. Ahem.

I was reading something, somewhere (as I often do - but I’m trying to stop this bad habit, I swear it!) about how there aren’t enough funny females on TV aside from the notable Tina Fey. First off, they’re wrong. There ARE some others. Regardless! This is why The Guild must go on to be on TV.  Felicia Day has wonderful comedic instincts and she reminds me greatly of Fey. Maybe one day Tina Fey will go do lunch with a one Ms. Felicia Day and they can become BFF’s. (Paris Hilton can’t be the only one searching for a BFF, right?) Their last names rhyme (Fey/Day), so how could it get more perfect than that? In fact, I can see a Fey/Day duo talkshow in the works…

Summing up why you should watch The Guild, in just a few words: It’s. Better. Than. Most. Stuff. On. TV.

Start with the first episode. The best way to give this is a try is just start watching. And look, here is that first episode! Voila:

You can watch all of the ten crazyily-awesome episodes at YouTube.com. You can also catch the gang on MySpace.

Season one of The Guild is on sale at WatchTheGuild.com. It includes interviews with the cast, gag reels, two commentary tracks, and more. Season two is hopefully going to be ready for viewing soon.

  1. After watching the first episode, I think I’m hooked, too! You always find the good tv for me!

  2. Yay! I was hoping you’d check it out. :) The Guild is addictive - I watched it all in one sitting.

  3. I watched it in two sittings, techinically. I got up and ate breakfast in between episodes 4 and 5 ;) The roommate of one of my best friends from college (a geeky engineering college, mind you) was soooooo addicted to Final Fantasy 11. I knew other people who were big-time gamers, but Jason was the only one I was ever around enough to know that he was playing the game at least 8 hours EVERY SINGLE DAY. So I definitely laughed A LOT at The Guild!

Jason finally broke his addiction after I graduated, but I saw him once after that. He apologized for being addicted to “The Game” when I was still living nearby and over at his apartment so much because he thought I was really cool and regretted that he missed out on so many chances to talk and hang out with me. awwww.

and as for the Paris/BFF reference, the guys at work (30- and 40-something blue collar types) were talking about texting acronyms and making up what the acronyms stood for. Dave said “BBF! isn’t Paris Hilton looking for a BBF?” So I corrected him and said “it’s BFF, not BBF.” He said, “oh, you watch the show? or are you trying out to be Paris’s BFF? You should give us a report on the show every week so we know what we’re missing.” ha.

  4. holy crap that was a long comment! oh well. that’s what happens when I start to tell stories… ;)

  5. I like your long comments. :) I think I might go and cheer myself up by watching some episodes again. This is the part where I guess I can admit I’ve already seen the first three episodes twice now.

I love gamers, even though I don’t know enough of them and haven’t ever gotten into anything aside from The Sims, briefly. I like to embrace geekness, aka awesomeness.

Those guys are so out of touch to think that to know lingo you must be really into something like that. Augh. Oh wait. I forgot. Yes, whenever I think of you I remember how very much you adore Miss Hilton. :P Tell those bitches, “I already AM Paris’ BFF…on secondlife.com.” :D
