Less TV, More…Games? (Heroes isn’t Winning Any Fans Back to the Fold)
I do not know how to play many board games that don’t have the name ‘Candy’ in them. Checkers and chess? I’m clueless with them both. I mean, I kind’ve understand how checkers works, but chess looks much cooler since it has knights and queens. So you could just spend your time using fabric scraps to make them outfits. At least uh, that’s what I would do. ‘Cause I’m WEIRD and that’s what I DO, okay?
Anyway, another game I have never understood is backgammon. I remember my Mom once gave me a magnetic travel backgammon game board, and I looked at it in total frustration for about ten minutes before throwing it out the window. Or, okay, maybe I didn’t throw it out a window but I totally WANTED to!
You guys know that I’m something of a TV-addict, but you can’t live with only one form of entertainment. I tried! I’m taking a cue from my friend in looking for things I can do online that are semi-mindless (or can be played during commercials) to while away time that I’m watching a show or movie I’m not that into but still don’t want to miss. Like, say, Heroes. Speaking of – I couldn’t even finish the last half hour of Monday’s episode. I just don’t care about the characters or overall storyline at all!
We were promised a better season three of Heroes than what we had for Heroes season two. But uhm…we haven’t gotten it. Anyone noticing this? Does it make anyone else cranky? Raise those hands!
Even with Heroes sucking, I don’t know that I won’t put it on the TV while I’m at the computer. But I’ll need distractions. I’m not really into The Sims (sorry, Ali!) but I might give backgammon a try since there are so many websites where you can play it for free. There are also websites with tutorials. Some websites want you to pay for downloads and seem to and hope to get you gambling. Lord help us if I ever become an online gambler! Of course, isn’t it always a gamble when you answer someones craigslist post? Yeesh!
So, I really wanna know: With the way Heroes is right now, would you rather watch Heroes - or play a game?

Not into the Sims!! *gasp*
Heroes has been rubbish for a long time now. I gave up on it ages ago, as you know. So, to answer your question, I’d rather play a game. Trivial pursuit if it’s a board game – Sims on computer
(My Simmies are faaaar more interesting than Heroes btw)
We used to have a really nice backgammon set. I used to play it when I was 14 or 15 but honestly, I’ve forgotten how to now. I doubt I’d play it again. Then again – I may just take a peek at those sites you linked ^.^

I know – you have utter Sim loyalty but I can’t seem to love them anymore. (I did for a couple weeks!) I think I’d like the online version where you can interact with others – but I am not paying for that.
Heroes keeps sinking. Gah.
Backgammon seems like it was designed to make your head hurt – haha. But, maybe it’s like riding a bike and you can’t forget.

I go through phases with the sims and I think that’s probably the ultimate burn for Heroes. You’re less interesting than figuring out backgammon.
Something about dice and moving spaces. It’s like sorry for losers. I dont know, Maybe I’m a hopefull but I liked how this week’s episode ended and I thought it was one of the better episodes we’ve seen all season. It’s not an excuse but I trust that they’re working on it. If they didnt have a few characters I was invested in I would leave but then again I’ve watched smallville for 8 years so I guess I have a high tollerance.

Without Elle, I’m pretty bummed. I also really liked Charlie and Eden – who were gone in season one. SAD.
I don’t think I could ever jump on the Smallville bandwagon now, but I might watch earlier episodes on DVD from when it had the original cast. The good thing is that the fanbase is large, so I don’t think that show will be canceled until Tom Welling says he doesn’t want to do it anymore. And even then – there’s spinoff potential. I’ve always liked Chloe.
Actually – there was once a show with Milo Ventimiglia and Allison – and it was the cutest show ever. I was sad they canceled it. It only got about 10 episodes, I think. The guy from Reaper was also in it.

Oh, I’d LOVE to play online Sims! But I don’t think we can (b/c of being outside the US) and, as you say, it’s wicked expensive so BOO.
Sorry Heroes sucks :/
Heh. I’m not sure if you can’t forget backgammon. So far, I’m doing an amazing job for not remembering one tiny thing about it LOL!

Since I haven’t caught up I’m just la la la ing through the comments. I hate to say it though but I will always chose Heroes. I won’t give up on them until the last character dies.

Ali, invent something like the Sims/Second Life that is free and is international. TY.

Sigh indeed. Not fair. Hey!!! I did not realize that the one girl from Opposite Sex was Trish on Supernatural (In My Time of Dying)! She was the ‘perfect/smart’ girl on the show – with lighter hair. (IMDB, baby!) Her name is Lindsey McKeon, for reference.
