Waiter, My Lemonade is Freckled! (And I Like it Like That)

Somehow, my new favorite drink of the holiday season ended up being freckled lemonade from Red Robin (which comes with endless, ‘bottomless’, refills). It’s  lemonade with frozen strawberries in it, and it’s the most refreshing thing to have after hours of shopping or walking or rolling down snowy hills. Normally I’d say I’m loving peppermint hot chocolate, or a gingerbread latte – or even eggnog…but no. It has to be freckled lemonade this year.

How do you make freckled lemonade? I can’t lie, It’s surprisingly hard to make! You have to have A) Lemonade (hahaha, I typed lameonade at first), B) Frozen strawberries, C) Ice in moderation. Mix and serve. Ahhh – that’s the sound of

being refreshed. I decided to make my own tonight while watching Weeds season 2 on my Netflix ‘Instant Watch’.

I’m all about Weeds now – it’s one of my favorite shows of the moment. When I saw some of Zooey Deschanel on the show, I just didn’t care that I haven’t seen the show before (unless you count five minutes of one of the first episodes). I loved her character! Again, I didn’t care that she was a guest star or that I’d only seen a few moments of the character. My heart was taken!

So, I’m watching the Zooey episodes of Weeds right now, and then I’ll go and watch season one properly. Going in reverse for some shows doesn’t bug me as much as with others. *Helpless shrug*

Zooey Deschanel

So, I must tackle these episodes first:

WeedsDoing the Backstroke (2007) TV episode …. Zooey Deschanel as Kat (season 3, not available)
Weeds - Pittsburgh (2006) TV episode …. Zooey Deschanel as Kat
Weeds - Yeah, Just Like Tomatoes (2006) TV episode …. Zooey Deschanel as Kat (WATCHED!)
Weeds - Mile Deep and a Foot Wide (2006) TV episode …. Zooey Deschanel as Kat (WATCHED!)

Zooey recently attended the premiere for her movie (with some random dude named Jim Carrey) Yes Man and she wore a low-key version of when Bjork wore a swan. :P I love this outfit.

Deschanel told Jay Leno that she laughed so hard during the premiere in L.A. that she split the dress (the white one) up the back – oops!

She called Carrey ‘very energetic’ which is code for ‘batshit crazy’. :D He arrived at the premiere in a giant hamster wheel? Yea, that’s…well, I’d imagine that it takes a lot of energy.

The Yes Man movie actually looks pretty good and I want to see it at the movie theater, which is not a place I’m that fond of. They do have good popcorn, though. So that’s a PRO. And they have dippin’ dots. And twizzlers… Yea – I tend to stay away because they have so much candy it makes me crazy :P I kid, I kid.

The truth is that I really hate getting stuck in a bad movie (You Me and Dupree, anyone?) but I also hate to leave a movie since I’m cheap and also want (read: NEED)  to know how things end. It’s just a lame situation that I tend to keep myself out of unless I BELIEVE In the movie. (I will be seeing Scream 4 in theaters even though I don’t think I believe in it. And yea – have you guys heard of this yet?!)

Zooey Deschanel on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno:

Zooey Deschanel on Jimmy Kimmel Live:

A Zooey Deschanel interview which is HILARIOUS, seriously:

Time for some randomness…

For fans of Diablo Cody, Amanda Seyfried, Kyle Gallner, Megan Fox (why?), Amy Sedaris or Adam Brody – did you know you can already reserve your copy of the movie Jennifer’s Body on Netflix? Yup! I did that today, I feel very accomplished. The movie is still yet to reach theaters, but oh well!

“Son of a motherless goat!” (Anyone know where that’s from? the Three Amigos!)

You should go over to TENgossip and read my writeup of The Write Environment, then come here and buy it on Amazon. :) Buy: The Write Environment: Featuring an interview with Joss Whedon (2008) I was talking with the creator, Jeffrey Burrman, and it turns out he is also a fan of The Guild. Yay!

Some Jimmy Backius photography posted on Creature Comforts inspired me to write this little creative snippet:

She was Ophelia of the backyard. Feeling depressed and dramatically desperate she marched her heeled feet through the garden path, flouncing her way to the pond. A moment later there was a splash and her feet were barefoot, neon yellow high-heels floating with lilypads. Then she was down on the grass, grasping it in her palms like the earth-mother-goddess she was. The earth spoke to her. Everything spoke to her. She was alive and life was terribly wonderful as much as it was wonderfully terrible. She looked to the blue sky overhead. It was blooming and bursting with the greens of tree limbs above. The green was so bright and lush it looked shiny and wet, as though she were in the jungle. Around her, flowers shone like jewels in the sun.

I really wanna know: What do you think of Zooey Deschanel?

  1. I must come over for some freckled lemonade it sounds so delish!!

What do I think of Zooey…hmmm..I’m not so sure…

  2. Aw I absolutely adore Zooey Deschanel! She was lovely on Weeds – totally cooky. WAY better guest star than Mary-Kate, thankyouverymuch. There’s just something incredibly likeable about her on screen, and now her amazing voice has shown us all another side as she’s blown up the music blogs and sold out countless shows with M. Ward in She & Him! She’s really got it goin’ on!

  3. I LOOOVE She & Him :) Her voice is amazing.
