Sliding into New Jewelry Trends with Veronica Mars

Ear Slides

Ear Slides

I’m currently digging EarSlides by Lutya. I was lucky enough to talk with the shop owner, Naomi. I had to know how she was inspired to make these kinds of earrings. She said, “I first found something similar to this style of earring years ago at a craft fair and I wore them every day – I loved them so much!”

EarSlides are also known to some as ear pins. They give the illusion of having two pierced ears per ear (and just generally look cool), instead of just one. Which is what I have! (Just the measly one pierced hole per ear.) That’s why I was happy to try a pair of these.

My Thoughts on the EarSlides: When these arrived I wasn’t sure exactly how I’d best like to wear them. I ended up literally sliding them onto my earlobes but I learned later you can insert them, too. Now, I’d had a FEAR that they would be too large and they’d push down on the part of the ear lobe that puffs up…er, I’m not making sense – but you know what I mean? Luckily these are totally large enough to be visible but they don’t push down on the ear in any weird or uncomfortable way.

I’ve been wearing them for hours and they aren’t loose – so there’s no fear of them falling off. They also are very light (I absolutely loathe heavy earrings) and they don’t bother you at all like dangly earrings can. And if I can say one more thing about them – the craftsmanship is really amazing. Seriously! I can’t believe someone I talked to actually made these themselves. These are definitely unique finds!

I was always jealous of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s many pierced earlobes when I watched Buffy. But I never wanted the pain! I can see Willow (Alyson Hannigan) from that show wearing these. She always went for the more unusual options when it came to style.

Creative inspiration drove Naomi to discover her own jewelry making talent: “Eventually, I thought it would be great to have these earrings in different types of stones, so I started searching online. Sadly this was to no avail. I decided to invest in the tools and materials and teach myself how to make them based on my initial pair. At first, I only made them for myself, friends and family, but in October I opened a shop on Etsy.com. I have made over 20 sales in a few short months and I think business will really take off once people see what a funky, fun and well-made product I have to offer”

Why Lutya EarSlides?: “My EarSlides are very unique on Etsy (which is a feat in itself!) – they’re all sterling silver with genuine stone beads; no lesser metals, crystal or glass beads, or cheap materials. They are so comfortable that I sleep with them in my ears every night!”

Naturally, I had to ask Naomi what one of her favorite TV shows was: “One of my favorite actresses is Kristen Bell. I can really picture Veronica Mars wearing my EarSlides. She is edgy and hip, without being typically trendy. They are understated which fits with her style of not wearing flashy jewelry.”
