Reviewing the The Office Episode “Two Weeks”

Hank is ready to escort Michael out of the building!

If I had an intercom (why don’t I? Do I have people who can get me one? In pink?) I would be announcing this much more loudly: The hilarity on The Office has reached threat level midnight!

In the episode Two Weeks of The Office, Michael spends his last two weeks as a  Dunder Mifflin employee. He feels free at first, not realizing the consequences of quitting and not having a new job lined up yet.

I guess I was sort of surprised that no one was looking out for Michael, telling him he shouldn’t have quit and should try to get his job back. What’s more, no one seemed sad. I know he’s been a jerk and annoying a lot…but even so!

“Scotch and splenda. Tastes like splenda, gets you drunk like scotch.” – Michael Scott (Can anyone verify if this drink tastes good? Drinking game!)

When Michael starts to get clued in that without a job he won’t be able to really live…he starts to get desperate. Which brings on the hilarity. His first step is to go to Monster.com, only from the ‘monster’ sounds from his computer, it’s clear that he went to Monsters.com. Oops!

So, Michael decides to work on his own paper company and tries to recruit people to his venture. But, no one wants in!  Those suckers! Michael is the life of the paaarty. I actually felt pretty sad by the middle of the episode.
Pam was the only character to try to get Michael to see reality. In the end, Pam is the only one who goes with him. And I am so glad she did! This will finally add some spice to the Pam/Jim dynamic that’s been pretty tame since they finally got together.

The only thing I don’t like is that, while I applaud Pam for wanting to go be more than she is (a salesman, er, salesperson) wasn’t her dream all along to do art? I mean, what the what?! So in a way, it’s like – Pam should be taking a different risk. But, oh well.

“In this climate?” – Andy “In all climates. It’s going to be worldwide.” – Michael Scott

When they tell Michael he has to leave and he can’t take anything, I became VERY worried for those little weird toys in his office (like the boxing chipmunk). He needs them! And when he couldn’t give a parting speech? SO SAD. He loves giving speeches for no reason, so for an actual reason is like – bonus!

My friend Kerstin and I really hate this new boss-guy, Charles Miner. Jim is all nice to him, and he’s written Jim off as nothing! What’s more, there is a glaring error because Miner says Jim’s number 2 position is fake, but Kerstin and I both remembered that when Jan gave him the position he got an official title, responsibility and a pay raise! So ha, in yer face Charles!

“And just like that, as mysteriously as he arrived…he was gone.” – Oscar (Oscar was like..narrating a Dr. Seuss book. I loved that line. )

So what does this mean for the future of The Office? Will Michael’s company be major competition or will it fail? Will everyone end up joining him or will he and Pam be back to Dunder Mifflin? What do you think?
