From Scandal to Soundtrack: The Sex and the City Movie Aftermath

Soundtrack and Scandal

Should we discuss the Sex and the City movie? I think we should. I’m listening to the soundtrack right now. I’m very pleased that The Weepies were included on the soundtrack because since I heard ‘The World Spins Madly On’ in the movie Because I Said So (very fun and light chick flick with Diane Keaton, Tom Everett Scott*, Mandy Moore, Lauren Graham, Piper Perabo* and Stephen Collins) I’ve been loving them. I could do without the Fergie track, but the supa-fine tracks by Jennifer Hudson (American Idol alum), Jem, and india.arie make up for that.

As for the dress debacle with Sarah Jessica Parker at the New York premiere, well, yes, I do have an opinion. Continued

Test Those Ever Important Pop Culture Mind Muscles: Guess this movie with a TV cast!

In honor of Memorial Day, it’s time to play a game. Try to guess what movie I’m talking about while I describe four of the actors/actresses that were in the movie. Okay? Ready, steady, go!

1. Currently I have a TV show on FX. I married someone I met on a movie set. I was almost one of the Desperate Housewives. I’ve been in a movie with Jim Carrey and in another with Adam Sandler. I was on a popular NBC sitcom that ended in 2004. …Who am I?

(This segue is going to rock.)

2. In 2004 I got a job playing a doctor on TV. Leonardo DiCaprio’s onscreen lover with red hair went blonde (not Kate Winslet - the other one) and short to be mod with me. One of my costars plays a Christian man who has an Australian accent …Who am I? Continued

These Award Show Outfits Would Be Great as Halloween Costumes (That’s Bad)

I don’t like Country music, I just never have. I think it would also be fair to say that I don’t like most of the fashion that Country music stars wear to award shows.  But maybe I’ll give the music a chance someday. I always like to practice my singing-in-the-shower skills.

LeAnn Rimes. Flapper style meets Medieval? Even her fingernails and eyebrows look harsh and severe. Was she preparing for battle? Dresses that look like armor are probably not a wise choice. Unless you actually are going into battle.

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood. Bubble dresses are difficult to pull off. A one shouldered neckline is not going to work with them. Bubble dresses work best with spaghetti strap necklines - or basically anything that doesn’t make you look like you’re wearing a purple potato sack. Also, I absolutley hate her hair, specifically her bangs.

When Life Pulls You Down - TV Show Fanvids Are There For You

Listen up - ’cause here’s an easy statement to apply to your roller coaster existence: when life sucks, you need some music. Sad music will let you wallow (Sarah McLachlan never lets me down - Felicity Porter (Felicity) and I have that in common), but if you’ve got any intentions of pulling yourself up out of the proverbial sludge - you need something with a fast, makes you dance, amps up your heart - beat. So, that’s what I’m gonna deliver here.

I listen to DVD commentary for my favorite shows, which - while sometimes time consuming, is always rewarding. I believe it was for commentary on the pilot of Alias where I heard J.J. Abrams say that for the infamous strut that Sydney does in her red-magenta hair in an airport, he had music going so that Jennifer Garner would really nail that strut. And if five seasons of a show (and a successful movie career) can say anything - I think it says she did.

I will add that my method here, with these vids, is Jessica-is-not-a-doctor-but-boy-does-she-look-pretty-in-a-white-jacket approved, and when I tested it, it worked. So save this page. Because we all know life can be a real bitch.

Oh - and this is also the next installment in the Sofachip Fanvid Appreciation Awards. So if you’re featured here, go on and claim your banner after the jump.

Alias

Let’s kick this off with my favorite TV Doctor, Dr. House. He may be cranky, but he inspired one of my favorite House M.D. fanvids. The Gorillaz - Feel Good inc. song is perfect for a video with fast pacing and as much glee as there is angst. It doesn’t matter WHO you ship with House - if you like him, if you like the show - you’re gonna like this video. No. I take it back. You’re gonna love it.

Dem Bones, Dem Bones - That’s a Song, Right?

Oh goodness, TV is disappointing tonight. There’s nothing on. Beauty and the Geek? Pass! Mariah Carey is on American Idol? That’s just another reason for me to not watch.

From AOL

But…what’s good? Last night Bones was on, all new and shiny. I missed the first like, four minutes - but I saw everything else. Is it just me or is it weird that they didn’t reference the Christmas kiss? Did I somehow lapse into a coma and miss an entire episode? Help me out, people!

This is what they should say:

Booth: Soo…

Bones: Let’s not dance around this. We kissed. We are both mutually attracted to each other, and I feel you are favorably pleasing. We should consider consummating this physically.

Booth: I agree. Yes. Your place or um…

Bones: I rented a room.

(Hehe, I’m half-kidding, I don’t think Bones is quite like that.)

The episode was good, but not the best ever.

Pro: They had fun clay fights in the episode.

Con: It was an obvious gag they way they had Booth hate pottery and then magically make a perfect horse.
