What TV Shows Got Canceled for Fall 2008?

Men in Trees

The networks cancel shows, that’s how we get new ones. It’s the circle of life, without any cute lions. Some of the shows that are canceled will shock us - our mouths contorting curiously as we say ‘huh?’ Others make us glad, smiling with the smug satisfaction we won’t have to accidentally stumble upon them on TV. Still there are others, ones that leave us grieving the loss (Veronica Mars and Angel - here’s lookin’ at you-z). Hopefully none of your favorites were dropped. I’ve compiled some information on shows that are now gone, or soon will be.

Buffyfans, Ever Pair Glory and Wesley?

Between fanfiction and RPG’s I’m sure that in the Buffyverse (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) there aren’t many pairings that haven’t been shipped (short for relationship - now you’re hip to the lingo). There are the standard canon ones, and then some popular ones that were never on the show (or they were, but much too briefly - Jenny/Giles or Xander/Cordelia for example!) but there are some that even I never even considered. Usually this is for obvious reasons - but I surprised myself when I thought of a couple that I’d never considered before but now seems so obviously wonderful!

Are you ready? Wesley (Alexis Denisof) and Glory (Clare Kramer)! It would be important that it was Wesley circa season four or five of Angel, and Glory circa season 5+. My idea of how it would work would be that Glory comes back (can you truly kill a Hell God?) but with less power, or maybe she’s almost-human. The catch would be that she’s still linked to Dawn Summers, who is the key. Harming Glory would mean harming Dawn. So protective older sister Buffy would send Glory away, but somewhere safe to be watched. I would like the idea of Wes being in charge! He is all Watcherly-trained!

Maybe he would have to disappear with her, leaving Angel Investigations, or maybe not. Either way, Glory would be in his charge. And whether an actual romance would bloom between them isn’t the point. Glory is a vibrant and fun character, and Wes is so sarcastic and broody (hey - Angel isn’t the only one who broods). I’d love to see the dynamic of differences between them. I love the character of Glory, she’s similar to ‘old school’ Cordy - but amplified x a billion. There are lots of directions this could take.

I also wish that somehow Glory could have been a part of Once More With Feeling, the Buffy musical. She would have had an awesome song. Man - she should have a whole abum! I wonder if Clare Kramer can sing?

To end this, here are two magnificently amazing Glory quotes from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer season five episode Checkpoint:

Glory: Sunnydale’s got too many demons, and not enough retail outlets.

Glory: Buffy! If I wanted to fight, you could tell by the being dead already.

Love is Happy, and So are These TV Fandom Videos

Here’s the third installment of the Sofachip Fanvid Appreciation Awards. Are you POSSIBLY freaking ready? This makes me feel like a DJ, almost. Which reminds me of the time I was living in a dorm room, and I’d call my friend who lived literally one floor down, and I’d pretend to be a DJ. Um…it as more fun than it sounds. Honest.

- BuffyAngelFan55 - Stronger (by Kayne West)

I pretend to hate this song but I guess I actually sorta love it, sometimes. This video is amazing. Buffy and Angel (Bangel) are true love x 80. I don’t know if this song is supposed to be romantic, and I never took it that way - but watching this video makes me see romance in the lyrics. I love that it’s got the action (WHAM) and then the tense romance (AWW) - even sexiness (YUM). Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and David Boreanaz (Bones, Angel) secretly love each other, that’s my theory.

Prepping for Joss Whedons’ Dollhouse Leaves Us in Crazy Anticipation of Eliza Dushku

It’s a little shameful that I’ve been a fan of Eliza Dushku’s for - I don’t know, ten years, and I still hesitate when I type or say her last name. I’ve got her first name down because when I was in 5th grade, I was good friends with a girl named Eliza. (She was a year older, and went to the Catholic school. If she had known how tragically uncool I was she might not have hung out with me!) Anyway, this isn’t therapy. Ahem.

This picture of Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Tru Calling) and Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage) is from OMG Yahoo. Click on the image to see a larger one.

Dushku is soon to be in Joss Whedon’s new FOX TV show, Dollhouse (if we can call Fall ’soon’). I have not been so excited for a new TV show in a long time. Maybe in a past life.

If you’re in Eliza Dushku withdrawl, and want to prep yourself for Dollhouse you can always watch Bring it On for the 50th time. That movie never gets old. I also like the movie Soul Survivors, which she was in. I planned to watch Wrong Turn a few times, but people always tell me that I will be too scared. I don’t know. I watched the House of Wax remake! Is it truly more gruesome?
