“My Boys” - Hey… Why Can’t They be Mine?

My Boys Season Premiere!

Does this subject title make me sound scandalous? I hope so. Cause I am, you know. Very scandalous. 50 Cent is going to write a song about me and my scandalousness (or, scandalosity). Truth. But for now, we have other things to talk about.

My Boys (the TBS sitcom set in Chicago) has a season premiere coming up…let’s see…it’s on June 12th! So, Thursday night, park it on your sofa *cough* by 9:30 p.m. The cliffhanger left you wondering which of several prime candidates she picked to take a trip to Italy with her. I actually know (TBS contacts, woo) but I’m not supposed to tell you. And you know what? I’m not gonna! You have to watch and see.

I can tell you that she did not pick Matthew McConaughey - yet he does make a sort of appearance in the show tomorrow night.

Jordana Spiro stars in My Boys as PJ Franklin aka Penelope Jane. (Personally, I’d rather be called Penelope Jane - that’s so cute!) Playing her brother, Andy, is Jim Gaffigan. You probably know him from the animated Pale Force he voices with Conan O’brien.

My crush of the show? (Sorry Jim, it’s not you.) Continued

Eric Millegan aka Zack Addy is now Permanently Gone From Bones

Zack AddyI’m about to talk about what happened in the recent Bones season finale so take caution if you haven’t seen it yet!

So, we speculated on who might be the Gormogon apprentice, and while we thought Zack Addy would be hurt or killed, I don’t think too many of us thought he’d actually be the killer. The finale was full of red herrings, making me think it was everyone from well - everyone! Everyone except Bones and Booth. My thoughts flitted to Hodgins, Angela, Sweets, Zack (mildly!), and even Cam.

When Hodgins presented the information about the lead level he found, I realized three people had constant access to his house: him, Angela, and Zack. But I was not prepared for any of them to be the apprentice. I had gone into this episode thinking it was Clark Edison. I re-watched the first episode of the season and then, with the other recent episode where Clark was there - I was certain he was appearing just enough to stay on the radar.

But apparently not!

Dr. Temperance Brennan of the Fox TV Show Bones Doesn’t Like Purple Elephants, so she Probably Wouldn’t Like Red Turtles, Right?

I stumbled upon the Duckcloth Blog today. DuckCloth sells fabrics in different prints which is all kinds of fun and I wish I could sew - and since I have a sewing machine, you’d think I could (it’s all a rouse!) The patterns available include some animal prints (yay, animals). When I saw them the very first thing I thought of was Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) of Bones. Even when it comes to babies, she doesn’t very much like the thought of animals being depicted illogically - as we learned in the episode Baby in the Bough.

But I think they’re great fun. I’m especially loving the French Poodles. It combines my love of girlish glee, animals, and all things French! I’m sure Bones would say that animals do not want to wear full outfits, or even little bows. She might also point out that pigs don’t stand upright, and turtles are not red - “…except for the rare so-and-so turtle with a red-spotted shell. Which a baby would never be near unless they somehow were abandoned in an African cave in the 1800’s.” Well, that’s what I picture her saying! If you can think of other quotes that Bones might say about the way cartoon animals are depicted on blankets, as toys, etc - share them in a comment!

Turtles probably aren’t in Africa, huh? :D

The New Kathy Reichs Novel is Coming Out in August (”Bones” Inspiration)

Devil BonesMonday’s episode of Bones was (and I don’t want to oversell this) SUPER-FREAKING-FANTASTIC. Aside from that thought, could you help from noticing how often Bones’ books were mentioned? I don’t think this was a ploy, I think it made sense in the story. But it did get me interested in following-through on actually reading the books by Kathy Reichs that inspired this TV show. Inspired by, based on? I think it gets a little muddled, from what I hear the books are different, even though the character is named Temperance Brennan, just as on the show. I don’t think I will mind, though - because the study of forensic anthropology is interesting.

The first book Reichs’ wrote about Brennan (published in 1997) is called Déjà Dead. The latest book (out in August 2008) is called Devil Bones. I suppose I’ll want to read them in order, so I won’t get to that one for a bit. Oh well!

Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) have great (I don’t want to say ‘chemistry’…) vibrations between them, that the end of the episode really picked at our emotions.

Fox TV is doing well.

If you’ve read any of these novels, what do you think of them?

A Bones Podcast, The Squint Squad!

Squint Squad

My wonderful friend, Crystal, along with her friend, Logan (whom I don’t know, but will assume is equally wonderful), have started a Bones podcast. You can access it at bonespodcast.mypodcast.com. In their second podcast, they had way too much fun saying ‘phalanges’. As you know, I enjoyed that part in the show when I talked about Bones’ Logical Guide to Babies.

If you’re a fan of the show, you’ll enjoy listening to Crystal and Logan talk about it. You can interact with them (they’re not robots - as far as I know!) by sending e-mails (listed on the above site) or joining their livejournal site right here (clicky!).

Crystal has revealed that one of her favorite episodes of Bones is The Skull in the Desert, which is also a favorite of mine. It’s gorgeous, because it’s filmed in the desert - so it’s all deserty…desertish? (Man, now I want some dessert. I had Vanilla Bean Cheesecake this past weekend and it was super yum.) I especially love that they use a Patty Griffin song within this episode.

Ironically, one of my other top favorite episodes is also one of Crystal’s - The Man in the Morgue. When I saw this episode I felt like it was more akin to a movie than a TV show. That is the episode that takes place in New Orleans. This episode is spooky, and it further shows the evolving relationship between (protective) Booth and Bones.

Logan, I don’t mean to not give you love, we just don’t have the same favorites! Anyway, you guys should tune into the Squint Squad podcast. According to their motto: It’s gonna be fun. Trust us.
