Joss Whedon Makes Me Giddy and I am Not Ashamed (Dr. Horrible PLAN + Matt Rousch Weighs in on Whedon)

Let’s say you could make a list of five people, living or dead, you’d like to have lunch with. Or dinner - if they’ll spring for the tip. That’s a hard list to think of making. But I’m sure of one person that would be on my list: Joss Whedon. Needless to say, when he does something, I’m interested.

This isn’t so say that I’m interested if he picks his nose or plays a good game of croquet. I’m interested in his projects. The Fox TV show Dollhouse is coming along (with Eliza Dushku and Amy Acker) and I’m already feeling like a diehard fan from what I’ve seen. Whedon always impresses me (with tiny, tiny exceptions), so I’m in a state of anticipatory excitement about Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Seriously, I think I’m shaking! Is this vertigo? Hm. I’ll call a Dr. of my own, while you check out all of this info on Dr. Horrible!

The official Dr. Horrible site is a must-see. From there you can access the Dr. Horrible MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter. Pay special attention to THE PLAN. If you miss out, and start crying, it will only be your own sadface fault! You have been warned.

Digg away, my fiends, and friends, and friendly fiends! Here!!! Should I namedrop in the process? Joss Whedon (of course), Felicia Day (a former potential on Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Nathan Fillion (Firefly - also, I kept typing Nation Fillion, haha), Jed Whedon, Zack Whedon aaaaaaaaand Neil Patrick Harris (arguably the best character on How I Met Your Mother). Welcome Neil, to our Whedonverse / Jossverse! (Did Alyson Hannigan of Buffy fame introduce you guys? Did you shake hands? Were your hands sweaty? Are you typically a sweaty guy? Wait. Don’t tell me that! Let’s keep this serious. So…what were you wearing?)

Don’t miss THIS piece by Matt Roush of TVguide.com.

If you want to miss out on the witty Joss Banter and really just want the nitty gritty (you are totally lame, but here):

My First Look at the July 14th ‘Saving Grace’ Season Two Premiere: “Have a Seat, Earl”

Holly Hunter is a Ferocious Femme in TNT’s Saving Grace

When you’re an avid TV watcher, you won’t make time for something that isn’t good. So first, let me make something clear - I am an avid TV watcher. Next, let me tell you what I just watched: Saving Grace (season two, episode one: Have a Seat, Earl). You can all watch this episode premiere on Monday July 14th, on TNT (10/9 C).

But, unless you are already a fan (and I know there are plenty of you!) maybe you’d like to know why I’d recommend watching. I mean, unless you’re here for advice on changing the oil in your car? Since my knowledge of cars extends only slightly past how to maneuver a bumper car for maximum bumping efficiency, let’s talk about the show. I’ve gotten to preview the first episode, courtesy of TNT. The pictures are also courtesy of them.

Sister, Oh Sister: Cruel Gossip Girl Intentions for Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle Trachtenberg

Cruel Intentions vs. Gossip Girl

At a glance: The very last scene with Georgina on Gossip Girl’s season finale reminded me of the last scene with Kathryn in Cruel Intentions.

Sarah Michelle Gellar (SMG) played Buffy Summers for seven years on The WB Network. That’s not new news. Fans know that for three of those years, Michelle Trachtenberg played Dawn Summers, Buffy’s little and peskily annoying sister. By the time Trachtenberg joined, SMG had already played her role in the 1999 hit Blockbuster Cruel Intentions.

Burn Notice: Season Two Premiere in July

I have pretty-pretty pictures, and two (count them, two!) YouTube Video’s for fans of Burn Notice that can’t wait for the season two premiere. Don’t think yourself greedy, simply see it as a way to get prepped for the new, second, season. Unlike the cast and crew, you don’t have to do any stunts, find killer music, or run in heels. All you have to do is relax and watch. (And well, if you could do my dishes, that really would be swell. I just painted my nails.)

WWBD? When Politics meets Buffy

“It does have that icky government feel to it.” - Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan), “Out of My Mind” on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

One 20-something girl takes on overwhelming political apathy and confusion with the aid of her favorite Vampire Slayer. You know her as Buffy.

When people relay information to me in terms of Buffy terms, I can much more easily comprehend them. It’s kind of like when you’re younger and learning math, and they try to trick you by having you count cookies or something you really like. (I do like cookies, for the record.)

Despite being published in December of ‘07, I still find this post on cogitamusblog.com very entertaining. It’s called “The GOP Primary Field in Buffy Villains” - and it’s combining my love of Buffy with my general apathy/confusion for politics. This is a perfect marriage that leaves me able to deal with politics in a new light. You know, one that makes sense to someone who doesn’t read about politics all the time. My philosphy in life is simple: Buffy good, Politics meh. (Fire bad, tree pretty.)

A Vague Disclaimer is Nobodies Friend: I do want to add that (on a more serious front here) I am someone who has always voted since age has allowed me to, and I do take the time to get informed so I’m not a blind voter. I encourage everyone to do the same. /end serious.
