Sister, Oh Sister: Cruel Gossip Girl Intentions for Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle Trachtenberg

Cruel Intentions vs. Gossip Girl

At a glance: The very last scene with Georgina on Gossip Girl’s season finale reminded me of the last scene with Kathryn in Cruel Intentions.

Sarah Michelle Gellar (SMG) played Buffy Summers for seven years on The WB Network. That’s not new news. Fans know that for three of those years, Michelle Trachtenberg played Dawn Summers, Buffy’s little and peskily annoying sister. By the time Trachtenberg joined, SMG had already played her role in the 1999 hit Blockbuster Cruel Intentions.

Maggie Grace of “Lost” Fame is Looking Polished as a Brunette (Jealous?)

I seem to care more about the character’s of Lost after they’ve been killed off, that’s weird, huh? I always had a soft spot for Shannon and Boone, and I think you all know what’s become of them. Augh! Shannon was played by Maggie Grace, who I hadn’t realized had become a brunette! And she looks even better with dark hair, I think. But, you be the judge! In the second picture you’ll notice she’s rocking the fashion trend of polished, fancy shorts for events. Not everyone is successful with this trend, but Maggie looks, in my humble-but-fashionably-educated opinion, all kinds of wonderful. (Even if her facial expression in that picture is kind of like ‘guhh?’)

Grace had a small role in the disappointing straight-to-DVD movie Suburban Girl which starred Alec Baldwin (30 Rock) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy). Is it wrong to hope she won’t get any projects for a bit and they’ll decide to somehow work her back onto Lost?

Love is Happy, and So are These TV Fandom Videos

Here’s the third installment of the Sofachip Fanvid Appreciation Awards. Are you POSSIBLY freaking ready? This makes me feel like a DJ, almost. Which reminds me of the time I was living in a dorm room, and I’d call my friend who lived literally one floor down, and I’d pretend to be a DJ. Um…it as more fun than it sounds. Honest.

- BuffyAngelFan55 - Stronger (by Kayne West)

I pretend to hate this song but I guess I actually sorta love it, sometimes. This video is amazing. Buffy and Angel (Bangel) are true love x 80. I don’t know if this song is supposed to be romantic, and I never took it that way - but watching this video makes me see romance in the lyrics. I love that it’s got the action (WHAM) and then the tense romance (AWW) - even sexiness (YUM). Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and David Boreanaz (Bones, Angel) secretly love each other, that’s my theory.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reunion : Thoughts, Pictures, Videos!

On March 20th, at the 25th Annual William S. Paley Television Festival the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion occurred. Along with Joss Whedon, Marti Noxon and David Greenwalt, cast members that were there included Sarah Michelle Gellar, Emma Caulfield, Nicholas Brendon, Amber Benson, Charisma Carpenter, Seth Green, James Marsters, and Michelle Trachetenberg.

The women of Buffy

So, I did not get to attend the Paley Festival. But that doesn’t mean I won’t cover it. Generous fans and other media outlets are sharing their experiences, pictures, etc. What I thought I would do was analyze the interviews that TV Guide’s Ausiello had with Sarah, Seth, Charisma, Nicholas, and Michelle.

Well, my first instinct is to wonder why Sarah and Seth were interviewed together. Everyone else was interviewed separately. Although Seth isn’t taller than Sarah (and she’s short) he’s protective, and a good friend to Sarah. My guess might be that Sarah was a bit fearful of any reporters who’d dig in to her about this being her first real appearance for the Buffy fandom. If I were her, I would have been nervous of the questions that could be asked. Seth did a lot of joking with Sarah, and he intercepted and fielded some of the harder questions - deflecting them with jokes.

When asked if he was ready for the pandemonium that would erupt, Seth said (jokingly) that he’d been training with weapons, in martial arts, and he recently saw Never Back Down. I’ve never heard of that movie, but maybe I should. I trust Seth’s taste.

Seth and SarahAusiello did us a solid when he asked them why there wasn’t a Buffy movie yet. Seth answered the question with a question, asking why there hadn’t been a sequel for The Italian Job (The Italian Job) yet - and then he said that it was just hard to get a movie made in Hollywood. If Sarah is the one who won’t agree to a movie, who knows. Joss said something about ‘a lot of stars (that) would have to align’ for that to happen.

Sarah said she was open to coming back to TV. I’m pretty positive that’s a different answer then what she was saying a few years ago.

An admission came when Sarah she said had just found out about Buffy’s latest adventure in bed with a woman in the comics. She said she would have assumed it was with Willow. “Shouldn’t it have been Willow if it was anybody?” Ausiello suggested Cordy/Buffy and she just kind of laughed. Sarah, of course, has kissed at least one girl (Selma Blair in Cruel Intentions - Cruel Intentions DVD), although whether or not she’d have played a bisexual or lesbian relationship on the show is something only she knows. Party Hats on, please. It’s a Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reunion!

What we need are plane tickets to Los Angeles. Seriously. I predict a huge mass of fans conglomerating in L.A. in March. And I’d love to be one of them. But I’m too far away.

Point. I had one of those… Somewhere. I’m just so excited that I’m losing my mind among all of the details I’m trying to organize here. Okay. Focus. What I need is a flare gun, pizza with anchovies, slug-scented candles, a scary bunny costume, a sombrero, a zombie cat, leather pants, wooden stakes… do you know what I’m referencing yet? Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Come on. It’s only one of the best shows in the entire known universe. And it’s time to celebrate because the The Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles is having their Twenty-Fifth Annual William S. Paley Television Festival.

It runs from March 14 to 27, 2008. But March 20th is going to be one of the best days. Particularly at 7 p.m. Wanna know why? Go on, ask me why. Continued
